Patty was clearly one of the most exceptionally gifted and intuitive winemakers in Oregon, which she never received tons of credit for. Part of that is certainly because she never sought that stuff out, and everyone at the winery probably went out of their way to avoid anything vaguely resembling publicity. She believed fervently in the vineyards they worked with, the people that owned and managed them and the ability to show the “place-ness” of each site.

For a long time, most everyone had not fully grasped the specifics of these vineyards and the impact they had on the wines. Patty was dedicated to the individual natures of these sites well before that became fashionable in Oregon. The synthesis between agriculture and enology being the basis of the domaines in Burgundy that we love the most. She had that before she even knew it was a thing, and what she did gets passed on through the wines that will continue to live on at Patricia Green Cellars.

In her loving memory: 1955-2017

Bright ruby-red. Highly expressive, spice-accented red and blue fruit preserve, sassafras, earth and lavender scents show wonderful clarity and mineral lift. Sweet and energetic on the palate, offering intense black raspberry, boysenberry and cherry cola flavors that deepen steadily with air while maintaining vivacity. This weighty yet nervy Pinot finishes with powerful, spicy thrust and silky, slowly building tannins that fold smoothly into the wine's strikingly persistent fruit and floral notes. This one-off bottling is made from all of the vineyards from which the winery draws Pinot Noir, with a third of the fruit coming from Ribbon Ridge; one-third new French oak.- Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media

“This is the 4th bottling of a Pinot Noir that we have designated as an “Anniversary” bottling. It is really only with this one and the one before it, the 15th Anniversary bottling from the 2014 vintage, that the anniversaries have lined up with an actual 5 year span as opposed to a random if significant date that we were memorializing. Over the years as we have produced these types of unique, stand-alone bottlings our perspective on doing them has become more clear, much in the way the nature of the winery began coming into focus in 2012.”

Vivid red. Spice-accented raspberry and cherry on the highly fragrant nose, along with hints of incense and baking spices. Silky and focused on the palate, offering vibrant red fruit and floral pastille flavors that deepen as the wine opens up. Fine-grained tannins frame a very long, spicy finish that shows repeating red fruit character and building florality. 15% new French oak. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media

This new vineyard selection in the Patricia Green Pinot pantheon is also one of the winery's most affordable releases. The flavors are relatively austere, with brambly red berries, ocean sediment, tea leaves and an herbal mix. It adds up to an elegant and detailed wine that lets the terroir speak clearly. - PG, Wine Enthusiast
