Tight, focused ripe fruit with chewy, polished tannins. It’s full-bodied with a lingering and precise finish. Extremely well-done. - James Suckling

The 2019 Teyssier is absolutely gorgeous. Rich, sumptuous and enveloping, the 2019 hits all the right notes. A rush of blackberry jam, chocolate, spice, new leather, licorice and spice build in a juicy, impeccable Saint-Émilion that hits all the right notes. The 2019 Teyssier has all the ingredients to be one of the real overachievers in this vintage. Sadly, production is down 40% because of frost. In a word: delicious. Jonathan Maltus' 2019s are superb across the board. I imagine many readers will be drawn to the micro-cuvées, Le Carré, Le Dôme and Les Astéries, in particular, and right so. In my view, though the most impressive wine in the lineup is Teyssier because of its quality at a production level that is very hard to achieve. The growing season was hot, as it was everywhere, with rain episodes in July, August and September that helped balance things out. Frost was an issue in some of the lower-lying parcels that typically inform Teyssier and Laforge. More importantly, the decision to give the wines a bit more energy while retaining all of the richness readers have come to expect yields a range of wines that really stand out in 2019. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Just about always a great value, the 2019 Château Teyssier reveals a dense purple color as well as a great bouquet of crème de cassis, red plums, unsmoked tobacco, damp earth, and spice. Rounded, medium to full-bodied, and opulent, yet with ripe tannins, it's another wonderful vintage for this cuvée, if not the finest I've tasted. - Jeb Dunnick

The 2019 Teyssier sports a medium to deep garnet-purple color and very pretty scents of black raspberries, redcurrant jelly and plum preserves with hints of cinnamon toast, red roses and tilled loam. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is elegantly played, offering soft tannins and seamless freshness to support the perfumed red and black fruits, finishing with a whisper of earthiness. Teyssier is from the JCP Maltus portfolio of skillfully crafted Saint-Émilion wines. Neil White is the head winemaker and Thomas Duclos is a consultant here. - Lisa Perrotti Brown, Wine Advocate
