The 2016 Zinfandel Fredericks Vineyard is a powerful, authoritative wine. There isn't much subtlety here, but the 2016 has more than enough depth and intensity to suggest it will age well for many years. Firm tannins and bold structure add to the wine's insistent, driving personality. Wild black cherry, savory herb, olive and floral notes burst onto the big, imposing finish. I came back to the Fredericks and tasted it next to the Montecillo Cabernet (the two sites are separated by a road) and it more than held its own.
