Cooling, mossy chalkiness plays on this wine's nose, despite the heat of 2018. The palate then displays juicy roundness in the form of ripe, yellow pear pervading chalky depth. Rich lemon-peel notes create contour and add mouthwatering brightness to this concentrated, understated wine that comes with subdued but distinct power. Drink 2025–2045. Anne Krebiehl MW – Wine Enthusiast

Sweet apples and pears with some stone and flint on the nose. Full-bodied with tight, focused phenolics that frame the wine nicely and then layers of fruit and lively acidity. Nicely crafted and composed. Drinkable now, but better in 2022.--James Suckling

The 2018 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru is far more forthcoming than the Valmur, presenting gorgeous orange, peach, tinned apricot and light pineapple scents that are very seductive. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh. This immediately puts the Valmur in its place with a penetrating, saline finish that leaves you wanting another sip. Superb. -- Neal Martin – Vinous Media

While the 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros was inscrutable when I tasted it during its élevage a year ago, it was in fine form this spring, unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of pear, white flowers, orange rind and peach. Medium to full-bodied, muscular and textural, it's ample and fleshy, with ripe but racy acids and fine depth at the core. William Kelley – The Wine Advocate

Note: from an incredible <6 ha parcel
Tasting note: Pungent and broad-ranging aromas include those of mineral reduction, pear liqueur, green fruit, shellfish and soft wood influence. There is excellent volume to the delicious, lightly stony and notably powerful middle weight plus flavors that conclude in a very firm, clean, dry, long and youthfully austere finish. As the description makes clear, this is presently quite compact though promising. Allen Meadows - Burghound

Didier Séguier considers that Bougros makes the most approachable of the grands crus and that you need to be strict to manage the yields in the deeper soils on the plateau here. His 2018 has weight and considerable concentration, with some spicy notes and just enough acidity. It is heady up front but finishes very well. Jasper Morris – Inside Burgundy
