When the Top 100 lists come out there is always a scramble for those at the top of the list, but you shouldn't overlook some of the other great wines a little farther down. We have just a little of these left, and I can't help but thinking you could have a wonderful dinner party with friends and family in the coming weeks.

You could start with Champagne and some light and salty appetizers, fritto misto or canapÃ©s, then perhaps the AligotÃ© would go nicely with either some rich cheeses or a winter salad with hazelnuts and goat cheese. Then the Barbera dâ€™Alba with a starter pasta, something with a little pancetta or mushrooms, followed by the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione and the Saint Emilion with a hearty main dish like duck breasts or pork loin with fall fruits and roasted squash. Finish up with the port and some chocolate or just some fresh figs or strong blue cheese. Sounds like a meal to be savored.
