We’re thrilled to offer one of the most highly-anticipated wines in any vintage, the excellent 2023 Vieux Chateau Certan. Situated in the heart of the Pomerol plateau, with Petrus, Lafleur and Le Pin just a stone’s throw away, Vieux Chateau Certan produces one the of the most highly regarded and sought after wines in the world. The 2023 VCC was one of our wines of the vintage and was universally praised by the critics, earning outstanding scores. "The 2023 Vieux Château Certan is like a drug. Its exotic aromatics, deeply layered fruit and sublime textures are just captivating.” - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Since 2005 Chateau Haut-Bailly has been on an incredible run of form producing wines that compete with the very best in Bordeaux. The late Chateau owner, Robert Wilmers, had given winemaker Véronique Sanders, a descendent of previous owners, carte blanche to do whatever is necessary to achieve perfection. This has continued under his son Chris Wilmers, including the recent construction of a new state-of-the-art winery. From the 100-pt 2010 vintage onwards they’ve crafted magnificent wines that set a new benchmark for quality, and the 2023 continues that trend. "This ranks as one of the standout wines in Pessac-Léognan, perhaps in Bordeaux itself. Outstanding." -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media

Château Troplong Mondot has changed hands many times since it was built in the mid seventeen hundreds, but really came to the fore under the guidance of the late Christine Valette. The Valette family had owned 33-hectare Troplong Mondot since the thirties, but Christine took over the running of it alongside her husband Xavier Pariente in 1981. Under her direction, the estate began picking later, reducing yields, and increasing new oak. In recognition of its rising critical acclaim, it was promoted in 2006 to the prestigious rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé in the St Emilion rankings. 2017 was the first vintage made by CEO Aymeric de Gironde and consulting winemaker Thomas Duclos, and they have been reaping the benefits as the 2023 demonstrates. “Simply stunning...nothing less than captivating. What a wine.” - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2023 Vieux Chateau Certan (Pomerol)
GVWM Wine of the Vintage
97-99+ WI / 99 DE / 97-98 JS / 96-98 JD / 96-98 VM / 96 JA / 94-96 WA

A blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, Vieux Chateau Certan 2023 has a pH of 3.74 and it is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of fresh blackberries, juicy plums, and black cherries slowly emerge from the glass, opening out to fragrant notes of violets, star anise, and black truffles, followed by wafts of wood smoke and cardamom. The medium-bodied palate is taut and muscular with firm, rounded tannins and seamless acidity, finishing with many, many layers of earth, spice, and floral notes. This is pure latent power. - Lisa Perotti-Brown, Wine Independent

97-98 JS / 96-98 WI / 96-98 VM / 95-97 JD / 96 DE / 94-96 WA

The 2023 Château Haut-Bailly is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 4% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aging in 50% new French oak. It has an incredible sense of purity and elegance, with perfumed redcurrants, darker berries, dried herbs, flowers, and tobacco. This carries to a medium to full-bodied red with beautiful tannins, a seamless, layered mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and that undeniable sense of class and finesse that define this château. - Jeb Dunnuck

2023 Troplong Mondot (Saint-Emilion)
97-98 JS / 96-98 WI / 95-98 VM / 97 DE / 95-97 WA

The aromatics are incredible - so pure, clean and precise - sweet, sour and fresh with clear blue fruits, wax, crayon and pencil led on the nose alongside vanilla, blackcurrant and plum with blueberry too. Supple and agile, a lovely bounce and energy straight away, this has movement and direction. The fruit is pristine, gorgeous succulence and bright berries on the palate before some limestone wet stone elements come in giving a graphite tang. Has that sense of whole bunch fermentation, really racy and so electric. It’s not a 2022, it doesn’t have that velvetines and soft plush tannins that Troplong can do well, but this is extremely good. Straight, juicy, clean, poised, elegant and refined. Not shouting, it’s reserved and calm, but confident. You can taste the chalk on the finish alongside liquorice and graphite. I love the finesse and the terroir markers and in a change to 2021 it has ripeness, succulence and body. 6% press. Three tanks of whole cluster fermentation. 70 IPT. Ageing 14 months, 60% new oak. 3.45pH. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter
