We are delighted to offer the 2023 release from one of our favorite properties on the Left Bank, Château Grand Puy Lacoste in Pauillac. Always a great wine which develops so much character in bottle over time, we could easily place it in our Over-Achievers category this year. We always enjoy visiting this chateau, and we certainly weren't disappointed this year - the 2023 exhibits incredible purity of fruit, underlined by a superb tannic structure and great freshness.

Today we also have the release of the superb 2023 Château La Gaffelière, situated on the slope just beneath the town of St-Emilion. The Gaffelière was excellent when we tasted it in April, with wonderful aromatics, brilliant energy and great elegance. This is a St-Emilion property that we increasingly look forward to visiting every year, as they are absolutely a rising star.

Count Stephan von Neipperg has released his Saint-Emilion, the  superb Château Canon-la-GaffelièreThe von Nieppbergs, who have been making wine since the 13th Century, acquired property in Saint-Emilion in 1971, and raised it to reach Premier Grand Cru Classé B status in 2012. All wines are farmed organically.

With release prices as much as 21% below 2022, don't miss this opportunity to secure your stock at the opening prices.

Our 2023 Bordeaux Vintage Report is now available, and as always, our 2023 Futures Landing Page is updated with the new releases each day, and includes our Wines of the Vintage, Over-Achievers and Value Drinkers. We'll continue sending offers on the most compelling wines as they are released...stay tuned!

The Grand Vin 2023 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste checks in as 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot (the 11th to the 28th of September) with the élevage in 75% new French oak. Its deeper plum hue is followed by beautiful aromatics of crème de cassis, graphite, and flowers. This carries to a medium-bodied Pauillac with a pure, elegant mouthfeel, ripe, polished tannins, and beautifully integrated oak. It's a little gem of a 2023 that has the pure, focused, elegant, yet concentrated style of the vintage. - Jeb Dunnuck

The 2023 La Gaffeliere is deep garnet-purple in color. It slowly emerges from the glass with fragrant scents of boysenberries, fresh juicy plums, and black raspberries opening out to hints of lilacs, Sichuan pepper, fragrant soil, and cardamom. The medium to full-bodied palate is exquisitely knit with filigree layers of black and red berries and floral accents, supported by plush tannins and wonderful tension, finishing long and perfumed. Wow! The blend is 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, with pH 3.50. - Lisa Perotti-Brown, Wine Independent
