Blanc de Lynch-Bages was first released in 1990 and is one of the first white wines produced by a Grand Cru Classé in the Médoc. While 2021 was somewhat challenging, the vintage turned out some excellent dry whites and Sauternes that should not be overlooked.

“Thanks to rather cool conditions in 2021, Bordeaux’s white grapes preserved acidity and vibrant aromatics, delivering the finest set of dry whites since 2017. Chiseled and intense, they exhibit considerable potential.” - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"Two-thousand twenty-one is a brilliant vintage for the dry whites of Bordeaux. It is an unusual year in which the wines have the energy that is often associated with cooler seasons, but the textural richness that is often only achieved in warm years. That duality makes the best 2021 whites compelling and absolutely riveting in the finest examples.” - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

"The white wines are in general extremely impressive, with intense acidity, vibrancy and aromatic complexity all on show." - Decanter

I was blown away by the quality of the 2021 Château Lynch-Bages Blanc, which ranks with the top whites in the vintage. Offering awesome white grapefruit, floral, mint, and chalky notes, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a vivid, pure, chiseled mouthfeel, and a great finish. I'd be a buyer. - Jeb Dunnuck

You're in good hands here, and straight from the fragrant white flower aromatics you get waves of pear, white peach, sweet spices. Subtle but builds in character, has a complexity and a rich concentration through the mid palate and stands out in the series. 50% new oak for 6 months, 20% stainless steel vats. Located on largely gravel soils in Saint Saveur, a commune close to Pauillac in the Médoc appellation. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux

The 2021 Les Charms Godard is mostly Sémillon in this vintage, with smaller pieces of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris. In 2021, Les Charmes Godard is brighter and more focused than in the past. Time in bottle will help release some its underlying texture, but readers won't find the softer contours that are typical here. As has been the custom for a number of years, it was vinified and aged in 500-liter barrels, but with the malolactic fermentation blocked. In 2021, the last parcels were harvested on September 23 and 24, exceedingly late by today's standards. -- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

The new identity of R de Rieussec arrives with the 2021 vintage, a white wine with great freshness with a completely redesigned bottle. The packaging is refined with the least possible impact on the environment: a Burgundy-shaped bottle, whose glass, opaque and therefore non-polluting, is made of 96% recycled glass. An understated label representing a logo both more modern and elegant.

New label as of this vintage and also a turning point for the wine which has had dedicated vineyard plots since 2014 and for the past three years different management in the cellar with investment in cooling systems and zero oxygen transfer during the press. Alluring notes of fresh pears, grape aromas and some apricot elements - soft yet nuanced. Very softly floral too with peach blossom. Juicy and lively on the palate with body, depth and roundness. Mouthwatering and zingy full of citrus lemon and lime as well as stone fruit flavours, some bitter orange and grapefruit touches and a delicious chalky salinity that comes in layers on the tongue and really lingers showing the markers of the terroir. Lively but all very well controlled with balanced and lifted acidity. Recommended drinking time in 3-4 years but it has a decade of potential. 59% Sauvignon Blanc (vinified in stainless steel) and 41% Semillon (new oak barrels for six months with regular lees stirring). Grapes are grown on gravel soils over sandy clay. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter
