2015 Louis Roederer Brut Rose

"Full-bodied, layered and vinous, it's rich and enveloping, its textural attack segueing into an ample, fleshy core that's girdled by bright acids and enlivened by a pillowy mousse."

- William Kelley, Wine Advocate

The 2015 vintage is remarkable not only for its exceptional quality but also as the year the Champagne region was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Following a mild, wet winter and a hot, dry summer, the vines produced juicy, ripe grapes, thanks to some much-needed rain in late August.

Part of our team recently revisited this rosé at a Champagne tasting and was unanimously impressed. Created through a gentle infusion of Pinot noir and a touch of Chardonnay, it showcases the vintage's explosive fruitiness and concentrated textures. With a lovely salmon hue and energetic bubbles, the aroma reveals tangy red fruits, blood orange, and hints of roasted cocoa. The wine offers a generous and vibrant palate, culminating in a beautifully crisp finish that lingers with umami notes and mineral freshness.

This shows lots of cotton candy and peach, together with strawberries and cream. But not overpowering. Some cranberry, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine bubbles and a lively finish. Dosage 8g/L. Drink now or hold. - James Suckling

Pure and pretty notes of wild strawberry and nectarine fruit are enriched by hints of marzipan, chalk and pickled ginger in this graceful rosé Champagne. Lithe and expressive, with a fine, lively mousse, this shows lovely balance and a creamy, mineral-laced finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2031. 1,054 cases imported. - Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator

The 2015 Champagne Vintage Estate La Rivière Brut Rosé pours a pale salmon with an orange-tinged hue. It is ripe with pomegranate, cardamom, and blood orange, and the palate is juicy, offering a nice balance of ripeness and freshness. It has a soft, round texture, with juicy peach, white pepper, and wild raspberry. Approachable and inviting, it is still is poised and graceful throughout. Drink 2022-2037. - Jeb Dunnuck

#6 Wine Spectator Top French Sparkling Wines of 2023

Displaying a bright pale salmon to cherry pink color, the 2015 Louis Roederer et Philippe Starck Brut Nature Rose wafts gently from the glass with notions of Red Delicious apples, raspberry leaves, Bing cherries, and rose water, plus touches of lavender, wet pebbles, and baker's yeast. The palate is tightly wound with great tension and dry, mineral-sprayed red berry and apple-inspired flavors, supported by exquisitely fine bubbles, finishing long and fragrant. There is so much vibrant, intense fruit here that you don't miss the dosage! This blend is 50% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay, and 13% Pinot Meunier. 20% Pinot Noir was infused for 5 days, followed by adding the white musts. 11% of the wines were aged in oak, and 30% malo-lactic was used. The dosage is zero. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent

In magnum format. Roederer holds the magnums back an extra few years to allow the autolytic character to shine through and add an extra level of smoothness. With a clear resemblance to the 75cl, the magnum effect adds reductive toastiness (coffee bean, gun smoke) to the red fruit ensemble. There is surprisingly little to choose between this and the bottle format in terms of overall quality, even if the aspect is different. Excellent! Drink from 2024-2034. Tasted: September 2023.--Stephen Pritchard for Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
