As prices of many bottlings of Preuses and le Clos have escalated significantly, Nathalie & Gilles Fevre, also known as Fevre-Fevre have remained  affordable. This bottling of Preuses tasted by Neal Martin made the top tier of wines with the likes of legendary producers (Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis).

The 2022 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru takes time to open in the glass. There is a patina of new oak that will need to be subsumed, but underneath, there lies some intriguing tropical-tinged fruit and hints of white peach and nectarine, becoming spicier with aeration. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with impressive depth, and the acidity here is beautifully judged. One of the more elegant Les Preuses, I admire its purity and length. There's some very good winemaking behind this Grand Cru. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media

The 2020 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru has a concentrated bouquet, well-defined with citrus peel, crushed stone and light apple blossom aromas. This exudes Grand Cru status. The palate is well-balanced with seamlessly integrated oak, plenty of grip and extract, and lightly spiced with a powerful yet focused finish. It has all the potential here to become a great Chablis Grand Cru. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (July 2024) -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media

Still really pale in colour. Perhaps more volume than Vaulorent but not necessarily any classier. Perhaps greater tension on the palate, with a pure white fruit, a touch of liquorice and a mineral crunch to finish. Very good. Tasted: June 2022 --Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

Tasting note: Here the wood treatment is slightly more evident though it still remains a background element on the nose of essence of pear, iodine and pretty citrus wisps. There is first-rate density to the powerful yet refined, even sophisticated, middleweight plus flavors that brim with both dry extract and minerality on the compact, bone-dry and sneaky long finish. This is also built-to-age and a wine that should reward a decade plus.—Allen Meadows, Burghound
