Champagne Gosset, established in Aÿ in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, proudly holds the title of the oldest wine house in the Champagne region. For over four centuries, the house has prioritized maintaining its unique style, elegance, and family traditions in the art of champagne-making. Renowned for its quality, Champagne Gosset sources its grapes primarily from premier cru and grand cru vineyards. Distinctively, Gosset refrains from using malolactic fermentation, opting instead for extended aging on lees to highlight the terroir and create vibrant, age-worthy cuvées. Their champagnes undergo meticulous care, maturing in dark cellars for four to five years for non-vintage wines, while vintage champagnes and Celebris cuvées can age for up to seven and ten years, respectively, before they are released.

The 2012 Brut Celebris is one of the most polished Champagnes I have tasted from Gosset in some time. Plenty of energy and acidity have long been signatures of this prestige cuvee, but a bit more meat on the bones keeps the wine from veering into the realm of the excessively austere, as was sometimes the case in the past. Dried lemon confit, chamomile, white petter and salt all race across the palate. I very much admire the energy here. This blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir spent ten years on lees and saw a dosage of 5.5 grams per liter. -Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

A seriously mature Champagne, this vintage of Celebris is rich with fruit that has now softened. With rich acidity, the wine has now rounded with a beautifully textured wine that is very ready to drink. - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast

Gosset's emblematic Chardonnay-dominant 2012 Extra-Brut Celebris is a more than worthy successor to the 2008, unwinding in the glass with aromas of citrus oil, verbena, freshly baked bread, green apple and wet stones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and incisive palate that's layered, concentrated and tensile, with a tangy spine of acidity (the house's trademark) and a long, saline finish. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

The ninth time the Celebris has been produced in over 400 years, the 2012 Champagne Celebris is exceptional, with layered complexity in its aromas of quince, fresh apple blossoms, and pure honey without being oxidative. Medium to full-bodied, it is gorgeous through the palate, with a supple, stony texture, pure with chalk, and an even spine of fresh acidity through the long finish. It’s another exceptional wine in the range to enjoy over the coming three decades. - Jeb Dunnuck

A graceful Champagne, showing a sense of finesse to the detailed intersection of bright, buoyant acidity and chalky minerality, with a fine, satiny mousse and flavors of ripe Asian pear, dried white cherry, salted almond, lemon curd and crystallized honey. Long and mouthwatering on the creamy finish, echoing spice and saline notes. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Drink now through 2038. 125 cases imported. - Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator

The initial nose is quite shy, but coaxing reveals a character expressing white fruit such as pear and spring flowers enhanced by pastry and citrusy notes. The palate has a suave, even mouthcoating texture and remarkable depth that is beautifully sustained by chalky salinity and a gorgeous grapefruit taste. The overriding impression is of a Champagne having less of the Cistercian austerity that underlies the classic Gosset house style, but one that could benefit from another decade of ageing. Dosage: 7g/L. Disgorged: March 2022. - YC, Decanter
