Very muscular, meaty and gamey, with wonderful spicy complexity on the full-bodied and highly structured palate. This has terrific concentration and compact fine tannins at its core. Enormously dense at the monumental finish. Not easy to find the right words for all this. The blend is identical to this producer’s Cuvee Reservee, but is matured much longer in cask and was bottled in February 2024. Drink or hold.—James Suckling
Lastly, I was able to taste the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Laurence from foudre as well. This is one of those wines that's just about overflowing with Provençal character and offers huge aromatics of red and black fruits, pepper, spice, Provençal garrigue, leather, and assorted meaty, gamey nuances. With full-bodied richness, a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish, it's going to be ready to go right out of the gate. I'd be happy with bottles in the cellar.—Jeb Dunnuck
Dark and brooding, the 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Laurence showcases melted licorice, ripe black fruits and cedar. Herbal and spicy gradations add further layers. Fierce tannins call for at least five more years in bottle. Finishing long and savory, the 2019 is a powerful beast that might put off some of the more traditional-style-seeking Châteauneuf drinkers. Nonetheless, this is a rock-solid Cuvée Laurence with ample substance. -- Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous Media

Long-time followers of this exemplary estate know that in years when there is no Cuvée da Capo, Pegau releases a Cuvée Laurence, essentially one foudre of the production held back for extended aging. The 2018 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Laurence is a terrific example of this bottling, boasting an especially rich, velvety texture, ample weight and richness on the palate and knockout aromas and flavors of dried cherries and garrigue. Already approachable, it should drink well for close to two decades.-- Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate
The 2018 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Laurence is opulent and sensual, bursting with pungent aromas of raspberry jam, ripe blackberry and black cherry, garrigue, white pepper and crushed rocks. Essentially, this is the same wine as the Cuvée Réservée, but instead of maturing it for two years, Laurence Féraud keeps it locked away for four, leading to more concentration, slightly elevated alcohol and a firmer tannic structure. It concludes with a long-lasting finish. -- Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous Media
