Leonetti Cellar
Washington State’s Iconic Winery
Up to 98 Points and In Stock
The Leonetti story in Washington State goes back to the turn of the 20th century, with Frank and Rosy Leonetti both arriving from Calabria, Italy, and getting married in Walla Walla. Fast forward to the 1970s and their grandson, Gary Figgins, took what started as a hobby and turned it into the first bonded winery in Walla Walla in 1977. Their first commercial vintage, 1978, was recognized as the best Cabernet in the nation in a Wine & Spirits tasting in 1981. By 2001 the next generation, Chris Figgins, took the reigns as head winemaker from his dad.
Leonetti has helped to put world-class wines from Washington State on the map, and we are lucky to have a limited selection of their Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in stock.

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon checks in as 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% each of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc from a mix of sites in the heart of the Walla Walla Valley. Its dense purple/plum color is followed by beautiful bouquet of pure cassis, leafy tobacco, chocolate, spicy oak, and graphite. This carries to a powerful, concentrated, burly, yet incredibly well-balanced Cabernet with a great mid-palate, a layered, building, powerful texture, beautiful tannins, and outstanding length. This blockbuster, serious, age-worthy beauty needs 3-5 years of bottle age (it will probably take a decade to hit maturity) and will have 2-3 decades of longevity.--Jeb Dunnuck

Made with the addition of 7% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec, the 2021 Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon is a broad, structured and generously layered wine. It exhibits a full-bodied and complex profile with juicy freshness, fine-grained tannins and a dusty essence of dark red and black fruits. Ending with a plummy finish, this wine promises to evolve and drink even better in the coming years. The wine matured for 22 months in new and once-filled French oak barrels and neutral oval botti. A total of 35,292 bottles are ready for release.-Anthony Mueller, The Wine Advocate
2022 Leonetti Cellar Merlot

I like the chocolate and Oreo cookie aromas to the black plum fruit. Oranges and bay leaves, too. It’s full-bodied, full of character and expansive on the palate, with a toasty, firm tannin frame. Remains elegant. 100% merlot. Drink from 2025.—James Suckling
Deeply colored and extracted for a Merlot, the 2022 Walla Walla Merlot displays mocha notes with plum and blackberry compote with soft notions of brown baking spices that sway from the glass with a firm, mineral essence. Full-bodied, the palate is still tight with firm,. gripping tannins that will release with additional years in the cellar yet will remain food-friendly for the next decade. The wine spent 15 months in a mix of new and used French oak and neutral botti.-Anthony Mueller, The Wine Advocate
