"This just makes you feel special when you drink it." - Wine Spectator
I was digging in the cellar again and found this lovely bottle from Barsac in Sauternes. This Premier Cru estate lies at the top of the “golden triangle” created by the Atlantic Ocean, Garonne River and Landes Forest - a unique microclimate that creates an ideal environment for the development of Sauternes’ trademark feature, botrytis, famously know as “noble rot.”
The 2011 is a very nice bottle of wine, and with some age on it will be ready to drink now while it will continue to develop for the next decade or more. And did I mention the fantastic price for its outstanding quality?
"Coutet has been one of my go-to sweet wines of Bordeaux since I first plunged into my wine career. It is a Barsac wine that always seems vivid and electrifying thanks to the brocade of life-affirming acidity engendered by its limestone soils.” - Neal Martin, Vinous Media

White peach, pineapple, white ginger, orange zest and green fig notes are clear and racy, while green almond, brioche, pear and yellow apple details wait in reserve. Offers stunning range and polish, showing terrific energy and cut on the finish. This just makes you feel special when you drink it. An estate that has been rising steadily for a while now. - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator
Well balanced, this gorgeous ripe wine is packed full of fresh yellow fruits, ripe oranges and lemon. The fruit counterpoints the generous, dense structure, offering the dry core of botrytis. Acidity gives a line of freshness at the end. Drink from 2020. — Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
Elegant peachy nose, with ample botrytis and integrated oak. Creamy and sumptuous, highly concentrated, this is a majestic wine with both power and freshness. Has energy and persistence and fine balancing acidity. Very sweet, but with enticing purity of fruit and raciness. Concentrated but has tangy acidity, adding up to a stylish wine with impeccable balance and length. - Stephen Brook, Decanter
