"The best third wine out there? I'd say unquestionably. I'm always shocked at the quality of the base Pauillac from this château, but I guess at this point I shouldn't be, given that it's outstanding in just about every vintage." - Jeb Dunnuck
Pauillac de Latour - what an excellent introduction to the family of wines produced by Château Latour. Pauillac de Latour made its first appearance in 1965 and was produced only occasionally, until 1990. Since then, it has been produced every vintage with consistent performance. The 2018 is now in stock and ready to ship! In 2019, the entire vineyard of Latour was certified as being 100% organic.

This is already very complex with tobacco, blackberries and hints of cedar. It’s medium-bodied with firm and layered tannins. Juicy and so delicious. It can age, too. Delightful now, but better after 2025.—James Suckling
I'm always shocked at the quality of the base Pauillac from this château, but I guess at this point I shouldn't be, given that it's outstanding in just about every vintage. The 2018 Le Pauillac De Château Latour has a medium to full-bodied, ripe, rounded, even sexy style as well as sunny aromatics of red and black fruits, smoked tobacco, and lead pencil shavings. It's balanced, concentrated, and incredibly satisfying.—Jeb Dunnuck
Still knitted down but this has flexible tannins with a real whoosh of freshness underneath. There is a feeling of sinew through the wine, and it shows both character and finesse. There is balance and depth to the brambly fruits, and altogether showing better than it did en primeur, likely to be released in 2023. A yield of 24hl/ha with 21% of production going into this wine.—Jane Anson, Decanter

This has aromas of blackberries, porcini mushrooms, tobacco and charred bark. It’s medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins. Savory, with plenty of earth and mineral character. Fresh finish. Drink or hold.—James Suckling
The 2017 Le Pauillac de Chateau Latour is a blend of 52.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39.9% Merlot, and 7.2% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet in color, it drifts languorously out of the glass with seductive scents of roses, fallen leaves, tilled soil, and Ceylon tea, giving way to a core of cassis, redcurrant jelly, and raspberry preserves. The medium-bodied palate delivers a firm, fine-grained texture and fantastic freshness to support the delicately styled, tightly wound layers, finishing with a mineral lift. - Lisa Perotti-Brown, Wine Independent
