As one heads down the Grand Rue from the Truchots, off a little side street that leads past La Bussière and 1er cru Les Ruchots, one finds the cellars and courtyard of Henri Jouan and his son Philippe.
2019 Philippe Jouan Coteaux Bourguignons VV
Cuvee Thomas (750ML)
$38.89 (In Stock) - Buy Now
This tiny estate is situated in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis and run by Phillipe Jouan, the fifth generation of his family to make Pinot Noir here. With only 3 hectares of vines being farmed, Henri and Philippe Jouan fly under the radar with such small quantities being produced.
"Henri & Philippe Jouan has retained something of Burgundian accent - not so usual in his generation - and I found him refreshingly unreconstructed. His wines are not specially deep in color, have a particularly pleasing graceful fruit and admirable length." - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

2019 Berthaut-Gerbet Hautes Cotes de Nuits (750ML)
91 DE
Amélie Berthaut farms a large parcel of Pinot in Concoeur in the heights above Nuits-St-Georges, where she produces this lovely wine that shows great purity of cherry and rose petal-scented fruit. The grapes are destemmed and fermented in concrete before a short maturation in wood (one third in cask, two-thirds in foudre) for less than a year to produce this perfumed, elegant wine that is more about finesse than power. Drinking Window 2022 – 2027- Charles Curtis MW, Decanter.

2019 Hubert Lignier Bourgogne Passetoutgrains (750ML)
Lignier’s Passetoutgrain is benchmark of its category, offering the finesse of far loftier appellations and embodying the authoritative depth of the house style in miniature form. The wine comprises 0.4 hectares worth of vines: 60% Gamay (from 1960) and 40% Pinot Noir (from 1998), planted within the confines of Morey-Saint-Denis proper in a site called Aux Poirelots. Aged entirely in used barrels, this cuvée is bottled without fining or filtration just before the next harvest
