More exciting 2020 releases came out of Bordeaux today starting with none other than the potentially-perfect First Growth Mouton Rothschild which may very well be THE wine of the vintage. If you haven't read the Vintage Report yet, let us give you the notes  on Mouton from Andy Lench, founder and CEO of Bordeaux Wine Locators, our importer, from his 36th year tasting Bordeaux from barrel:

This is the greatest barrel sample of Mouton I have ever experienced. This wine will surely compare with the great 1959,1961,1982,1986 and 2016, and dare I even say 1945, one of the greatest wines of the last century. It is rare that one is moved by a wine, considering that, after all, it is our business, and we taste thousands of wines every year. But when a wine bowls you over, you are left stunned. This is honestly one of the best barrel samples of an infant Bordeaux I have ever tasted. Sorry cannot give an unfinished wine 100 Points but mortgage the house to get some of this wine.

Coming from Saint Julien, we are thrilled to offer the 98-99 point Ducru-Beaucaillou, another one of 2020's undisputed stars, which is celebrating its 300th vintage with a special label.

Also in Saint Julien and celebrating 100 years under the Cuvelier family with a special bottle, one of our over-achievers for the vintage is the 96-97 point Leoville Poyferre that's "cut from the same cloth as the 2016".

Finally we are also pleased to offer a very limited reload of the 96-97 point Malescot St Exupery which exhibits "controlled opulence" - act fast before it sells out again..!

Don't miss this opportunity to secure your allocations at the opening prices.

Our Futures Landing Page includes our Wines of the Vintage, Over-Achievers, and Value Drinkers, while it continues to be updated with new wines daily. We'll continue sending offers on the most compelling wines as they are released...stay tuned!

2020 Mouton Rothschild (Pauillac)
GVWM Wine of the Vintage
99-100 JS / 98 DE / 97-99 JD / 97-99 WA / 96-98 VM

This is a great and impressive Mouton with plushness and precision. A million layers of tannins. It’s full and very friendly, even seductive, in a rich and opulent way, yet it always remains fresh. Balanced and refined. Nothing sticks out here. Every so fine-grained tannins provide flesh. Looking forward to seeing its evolution. 84% cabernet sauvignon, 13% merlot, 2% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. - James Suckling

2020 Ducru Beaucaillou (Saint Julien)
98-99 JS / 98 DE / 97-99 JD / 96-98 VM / 95-97 WA

To celebrate their 300th vintage, the chateau has created a special label for 2020.

An amazing Ducru, one of the wines of the vintage. Hugely persistent, chiselled and precise, yet succulent in its berry and cassis fruit character. The slate and pencil lead finish slows things down and grabs hold of you, I love the push-and-pull of the tannins. Always a confident and well-finessed wine, really flexing its muscles in 2020. 100% new oak barrels. 3.83pH. - Jane Anson, Decanter

2020 Leoville Poyferre (Saint Julien)
GVWM Over-Achiever
96-97 JS / 96 DE / 95-97+ JD / 95-97 VM / 95-97 WA

A special bottle for 2020 celebrates 100 years of the Cuvelier family as owners of the estate.

The 2020 Léoville-Poyferré is a powerful, structured wine. In recent vintages, Léoville-Poyferré has been more opulent, but the 2020 shows off a towering, vertical build framed by a soaring spine of tannin. Dark red cherry, pomegranate, cedar and spicebox emerge with a bit of coaxing. Ultimately, though, Léoville-Poyferré is less showy than most Saint-Juliens at this stage. I don't expect that will be much of an issue in time. In a word: magnificent. Tasted three times. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2020 Malescot St Exupery (Margaux)
GVWM Over-Achiever
96-97 JS / 95-97 WA / 94-96 VM / 92 DE

This is a 2005 Malescot in the making. And that was stunning. I love the blueberries, chocolate and nuts on the nose and palate. The finish lasts for minutes with so much . Goes on and on. I want to drink this! Wow. - James Suckling
