We are delighted to offer one of the legends from Pauillac, Château Lynch-Bages, who have just released their 2021 Grand Vin. Lynch-Bages is one of the best-known Médoc estates and has always had a particularly strong following. Owned in the 18th Century by Irishman Thomas Lynch, since 1973 it has been owned by Jean-Michel Cazes and is now run by his son, Jean-Charles. The 2021 is now the second vintage to have been made in their state of the art new cellars, and we're also pleased to offer the 2021 Blanc de Lynch Bages that "ranks with the top whites in the vintage."

Also recently released is the 2021 Château d’Armailhac from Baron Philippe de Rothschild's stable of properties in Pauillac, and next door to Mouton. First planted with vines in 1750, and known as Mouton d’Armailhacq in the 18th century, d’Armailhac has been in the Rothschild portfolio since 1933. Lots of investment with the 2021 being made in their new cellar, and a new technical director, as Lucie Lauilhé has replaced Jean-Paul Paultert, with Paultert retiring after 29 years in the post. They have captured the essence of 2021, making a bright, charming wine. Given that it is adjacent to Château Mouton Rothschild on the north and west sides, and receives the same care and attention from the Rothschild team, it represent superb value for Pauillac!

Another one of our favorite properties on the Left Bank is also out, Château Grand Puy Lacoste in Pauillac. Owned and run by the charming François-Xavier Borie, Grand Puy Lacoste is one of the oldest properties in the Medoc and the wine competes with the very best in Bordeaux. When mature, it combines those classic cigar box aromas with rich blackcurrant fruit and velvety tannins. It is the epitome of top class Pauillac it is the wine that savvy connoisseurs always seek out for great value. Following on the success last year of their multi-format Variation Case, we're pleased to offer it again for 2021.

Count Stephan von Neipperg has just released two of his superb Saint-Emilions, the 2021 Château La Mondotte and the 2021 Château Canon-la-Gaffelière. The von Neippergs, who have been making wine since the 13th Century, acquired these two properties in Saint-Emilion in 1971, and raised them both up to reach Premier Grand Cru Classé B status in 2012. Both are farmed organically. La Mondotte is a tiny 4.5 hectare vineyard on the Saint-Emlion plateau, and produces a more perfumed, aromatic style than that of Canon-la-Gaffelière, situated at the bottom of the slope beneath the town, which is typically defined by power and elegance.

More releases worth taking a look at: a super white and red Pessac-Léognan from Malartic Lagravière; a "terrific" little Margaux from the ever popular Malescot St. Exupery; and from Saint-Julien, Château Branaire-Ducru & Château Talbot.

And finally the sweet wines - as William Kelley of Wine Advocate noted, 2021 had "the makings of a profound vintage in the Sauternais" - now available is the potentially perfect Lafaurie-Peyraguey and other outstanding 2021 Sauternes!

2021 Lynch Bages (Pauillac)

96-97 JS / 94-96+ JD / 94-96 VM / 95 DE / 93-95 WA / 94 JA / 92-94 WI

Sweet blackcurrant fruit on the nose, softly jammy and expressive. You can really feel the ripeness here, grapes got full maturity and this is plush, mouthfilling and plump with chewy tannins - more opulent and perfumed than others also with more power and body. Tannins are mouthfilling and you get the stone minerality and the Cabernet freshness that really takes over giving this a sense of tension and grip. A really characterful and expressive Pauillac where the tannins and acidity perfectly compliment each other with the muscular and concentrated fruit also giving a multi-faceted dimension. 3% Cabernet Sauvignon completes the blend. 3.72pH. Ageing 75% new barrels. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter

2021 Grand Puy Lacoste (Pauillac)

94-96 VM / 95 DE / 94-95 JS / 92-94+WA

The 2021 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is fabulous. Bright and punchy, with terrific aromatic presence, the 2021 is a terrific example of the modern classicism of the year at its best. It's the sort of wine that needs years or maybe even decades to truly blossom, and yet all the requisites are there for that to happen. There is something about Grand-Puy-Lacoste that is absolutely striking in 2021. I can't wait to taste it from bottle. Tasted two times. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2021 D'Armailhac (Pauillac)

93 DE / 92-93 JS / 91-93 WA / 90-92 VM

Succulent and softly supple, this has lots of energy and pace with bright red fruits, raspberries and cherries, alongside sweet spices and perfumed nuances. The acidity is so well judged it lifts the palate and delivers the individual elements with precision and poise, so you get a playful, friendly and upfront wine offering so much pleasure. I love the clarity here too, the sheer chalky and saline texture on the tongue; it feels clean and clear with a pristine quality. This will be a fabulous wine! 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.72pH. The first vintage to be vinified in the new winery which was completed just in time for the harvest. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter

2021 Malescot St Exupery (Margaux)

94-95 JS / 92-94 WA

The 2021 Malescot St. Exupery is a terrific effort, offering up aromas of sweet cassis and plums mingled with notions of licorice, espresso roast and toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's impressively layered, with a sweet core of fruit, ripe tannins and lively acids. The dramatic style of the château has worked very well with the cooler, later-maturing vintage. The blend is 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate.

2021 Canon La Gaffeliere (Saint Emilion)

94-96 VM / 95 DE / 94-95 JS / 93-95 WA / 93-95 JD / 91-93 WI

The 2021 Canon La Gaffelière is striking. Aromatic and expressive, with no hard edges, the 2021 impresses with its balance and overall harmony. All the elements are so nicely integrated. Crushed red berry fruit, white flowers, mint, rose petal and orange zest all race through this super-appealing, mid-weight Saint-Émilion. The 2021 is so well put together. It's is such a sensual wine. - Antonio Gallino, Vinous Media

2021 La Mondotte (Saint Emilion)

95-96 JS / 94-97 JD / 93-95 VM / 94 DE / 92-94 WA / 91-93 WI

A brilliant wine in the making, I'd put the 2021 La Mondotte up with the crème de la crème from the Right Bank. Offering up terrific cassis, blueberry, and darker cherry fruits, it's medium to full-bodied, has ripe, polished tannins, terrific balance, and subtle floral and chalky mineral-like nuances. It brings way more density, depth, and texture than just about every other wine out there. Bravo. - Jeb Dunnuck

2021 Gazin (Pomerol)

92-93 JS / 91-93+ WA / 89-92 JD / 91 JA / 90 DE

The 2021 Gazin is a fine effort, unfurling in the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, cherries, plums, incense and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's rather rich and elegantly muscular in the context of the vintage, with a deep core of fruit, powdery tannins and bright acids. Mildew pressure combined with wet conditions that made it impossible to enter the vineyard with tractors delivered low yields of only 18 hectoliters per hectare, and the grand vin is entirely Merlot this year. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Incredible, young Sauternes with so much spicy, dried-mushroom, dust and powdered-earth character on the nose and palate, Full-bodied with a medium-sweet palate and a finish that is endless. Apricots, dried lemons and peaches. Caramel. Great balance. Greatest modern vintage? 6,000 bottles made. - James Suckling
