'one of the strongest cards among the Cote de Beaune reds'

- Neal Martin, Vinous Media

'excellent punch, detail and persistence on the balanced finale'

'The 2020 vintage has turned out beautifully at this address'

- William Kelley, Wine Advocate

The Heritiers Jadot wines are produced from Domaine fruit as opposed to their 'Negoce' wines. The house makes a rather vast array of wine, however at the top end, mostly the domaine offerings, they are usually excellent. Jadot has been producing wine for 163 years having started with its Clos Ursules vineyard.

(Domaine des Héritiers Jadot)

The 2020 Corton-Pougets Grand Cru is often one of Jadot’s strongest cards amongst the Côte de Beaune reds and this is no different. It has a captivating bouquet with earthy red fruit, graphite, just a faint hint of menthol that emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, lightly spiced with a dash of white pepper towards the sustained finish. It will require several years in bottle to show its best, but it will be worth waiting for. –Neal Martin, Vinous Media

he 2020 Corton-Pougets Grand Cru (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) is excellent, mingling aromas of cherries and raspberries with notions of raw cocoa, orange rind, warm spices and smoke. Full-bodied, velvety and layered, it's deep and concentrated, with powdery tannins, bright acids and a long, resonant finish. The 2020 vintage has turned out beautifully at this address, delivering concentrated, flavorful wines with alcohol levels between 13.3% and 13.7% and with low pHs. Winemaker Frédéric Barnier told me that efforts were made to pick earlier in the day, and that fruit waiting to be processed was kept fresh in a special cold room. In the cellar, foudres and 500-liter barrels now complement classic 228-liter pièces, a further evolution adapting to warmer, riper vintages. But aside from the quality of the 2020s and these technical developments, described in more detail in the accompanying tasting notes, there's other noteworthy news too: in 2021, Jadot entered into organic conversion for their domaine vineyards.—William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

Once again a moderate but not generous wood treatment stops short of overshadowing the slightly more elegant nose of black raspberry coulis, spice and warm earth scents. By contrast, the mouthfeel of the medium weight flavors is notably finer compared to the Clos du Roi or Grèves while retaining excellent punch, detail and persistence on the balanced finale. Despite the greater refinement, this too is clearly built-to-age and extended patience will be required even though this might well be approachable after 8 to 10 years has passed. Sweet Spot. Allen Meadows, Burghound
