Mixed vine ages grown on white oolite with rocky Comblanchien outcrops. Fault lines throughout with crystalline calcite deposits which mean that his plough shines like a jewel at the end of the day’s work in Combe d’Orveau! Rich deep and even purple. A complex and fascinating nose, as much mineral as fruit forward. Excellent backbone with a very long finish, a striking mix of red and little black fruits. One for the long term. Tasted: December 2021.--Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Note: planted with vines of 20+ and 65+ years of age that sit directly above Musigny Tasting note: A beautiful nose combines plenty of floral and spice elements with notes of red cherry and jasmine tea. The gorgeously textured middle weight flavors exude a lovely salinity on the chalky, tension-filled and exceptionally long finish. La Combe d'Orveau usually requires extended aging but this version should be approachable relatively early. Sweet Spot. Outstanding. --Allen Meadows, Burghound
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru La Combe d'Orveau mingles aromas of raspberries and plum with notions of orange rind and rose petals in an attractive bouquet. It's a medium to full-bodied, bright and lively wine of almost crystalline purity. Long and penetrating, it's my pick of the range.--William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

East facing, clay on oolitic limestone, on the Flagey side of Beaux Monts, so does not get the cool air from the combe. Clean dense purple. Dense cherry kernel fruit with raspberry edges, some gingerbread and cinnamon, good acidity, complex, ultimately fresher than the more viscous Brûlées. An intriguing contrast in style. Tasted: December 2021. --Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Note: from 50+ year old vines on the Flagey side Tasting note: This is aromatically quite similar to the Brûlées though perhaps with just a touch more freshness. The delicious medium-bodied flavors flash the intrinsic minerality of a fine VRBM before terminating in a linear, focused and strikingly long finish. This is excellent.Sweet Spot. Outstanding. --Allen Meadows, Burghound
2020 Bruno Clavelier Vosne Romanee La Combe Brulee

$134.89/bottle (Limited - In Stock) Buy Now
88 year old vines in a cold site, with 50% whole bunch vinification. Similar deep purple. The nose has slightly darker fruit, with the whole bunch showing a touch more, and some black tea notes. Slightly more volume of fruit here with a savoury finish. Tasted: December 2021.-- Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Note: a villages-level wine from 65+ year old vines Tasting note: An overtly floral nose combines notes of various dark berries with those of violet, plum and sandalwood. The intense and refined middle weight flavors exude evident salinity on the dusty, even chalky, and youthfully austere finish. This too will need a few years of patience in order to further flesh out.--Allen Meadows, Burghound

One Barrel Produced
Bruno has just ripped the vines out as yields have got too low: one barrel only in 2020 and none in 2021. Grown on a very light topsoil on oolitic limestone, south facing but high up and ventilated. Very expressive nose of myrtille and the floral side of raspberries. The darker side of purple on the nose. Very exciting with the usual energy behind. Becomes steadily redder in fruit on the palate. Tasted: December 2021.--Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.
