Jean-Marc Brocard is a leader in organic and biodynamic farming. The Vaulorent is one of this producer's best known Premiers crus. It sits next to the Grand Cru Les Preuses which it resembles in some of its qualities. The Premier Cru Vau de Vey vines cling on to a very steep slope. Located on the left bank of the Serein River and facing East, this terroir gives us rich and delicate wines with a marked minerality.

The 2019 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru has an expressive nose of crushed stone, mirabelle and light honeysuckle aromas, one of the classiest from Brocard in 2019. The palate is fresh and saline on the entry, with driving acidity, superb tension and a judicious kiss of salinity on the racy finish. A great Chablis from Brocard. The 2019 Chablis Vau de Vey 1er Cru has an intriguing, melted candle wax and white flower nose, showing touches of apple peel and chalk dust. This seems to grow in complexity in the glass. The palate is well balanced and spicy, with a fine bead of acidity. Orange peel and touches of bitter lemon give way to a slightly oily-textured finish.
