This exceptional red wine derives its name from the Renaissance town of Montepulciano, located in the province of Siena. The term “Nobile” seems to originate from the fact that in the past its production was reserved exclusively for the aristocratic, noble families of the town. This is a blend of Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) and Canaiolo.

A mix of fruity and savory, this red reveals as much euclayptus, bay leaf, thyme and tobacco as black cherry, blackberry and licorice. Concentrated and solidly built, lingering with an aftertaste of dark fruit and Mediterranean herbs, plus iron and tobacco. Best from 2023 through 2042. 15,000 cases made, 7,800 cases imported. — BS – Wine Spectator
