“…one of the very finest Cabernets readers will find in its price point, or virtually any price point, for that matter...”
Every now and then you find wines that truly over deliver, but so often they hail from unsung or unheard of appellations, or from varietals most people don’t know. This is not the case here. A cabernet sauvignon from vineyards in Sonoma Valley, Knights Valley, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek and Chalk Hill is neither unsung or obscure. And when produced by a Napa Valley winery with accolades and growing pedigree who tout this as “better quality at a better price” then you have to at least give it a shot.
And this wine really does give so much more than you expect for the price! We tasted this bottle yesterday afternoon. It was big and extracted, very polished and complex. A little tight to start out, but when I tasted the wine again late last night after many hours being open, the flavors and structure had opened up beautifully. I heartily recommend decanting this with vigor to really open up the wine, or laying it down for a few years if you have the patience!
