Established as a winery in 1612 by Capuchin friars, Domaine Weinbach takes its name from the little stream which runs through the property, at the foot of the grand cru hill Schlossberg, whose slope demands terraced viticulture on its sandy soils, with altitudes ranging from 230m-400m. This wine is sourced on the upper part of the hill, where the soil is very shallow. Rebecca Palmer: Expressive, perfumed fruit, incredible purity and finesse. Everything in beautiful proportion – just ripe enough, just rounded enough, perfumed and mineral. Acids are fresh and crystalline. Refreshing with a long, perfumed finish. Marcel Orford-Williams: Gorgeous, such charm. Eric Zwiebel MS: Aromatic, pungent, candied grapefruit, lemon, stony, rich oily texture, highly mineral. Blind tasted by Rebecca Palmer, Marcel Orford-WilliamsEric Zwiebel, Decanter
This is so elegant and refined, with such a complex bouquet of aromas that range from bitter lemon, through red apple and quince to white peach. Then comes the finely etched palate that’s simultaneously very nimble and intense. Breathtaking delicacy at the crystalline finish! From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but better from 2022.—James Suckling

Wow. This has such attractively pure fruit with flinty nuances, across ripe peaches, nectarines and grapefruit. The off-dry palate has a flinty and gently smoky edge with a very fresh, concentrated core of ripe white peaches. So powerful and long. Drink or hold. James Suckling
In this wine, a flash of freshly cut Williams pear shows befor the nose closes down again. The palate reveals gentle, rounded fruit and the kind of concentration that turns into elegance rather than power. With plenty of energy at the core, sun-ripened and upright, the wine remains finely chiseled. A freshness uncommon for 2018 pervades the pear notes and lets this shine. Drink by 2040. Anne Krebiehl MW, Wine Enthusiast
Quite rich but masses of smoky pungency, so it’s not fat. A little light bitterness to compensate for the relatively low acid. Impressively racy for the vintage! Very long and exciting. Recommended for mushrooms. - Jancis Robinson
