The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon was just bottled this past summer. It is of course a very young wine, but possesses tremendous aromatic nuance and freshness to play off a core of huge dark fruit. Readers will have to be patient with the 2018, as it is an imposing, vertical Cabernet that needs years to be at its best. The 2018 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is another exceptional wine in this range. Super-ripe dark red cherry, wild flowers, mint and spice are all wonderfully alive in this lush, inky Petite from one of the most pedigreed sites in St. Helena and Napa Valley more broadly. Time in the glass brings out a brighter set of red fruit, blood orange and floral notes to round things out beautifully.
