"Balanced and ethereal, it's a transparent expression of Chambolle's range of terroirs"

Chambolle-Musigny: This appellation includes 24 Premier Crus Climats and two Grand Crus. Also, often regarded as the most “feminine” wine of the Côte de Nuits; its intensity and delicacy is expressed with elegance and subtlety.

The 2018 Vintage: "As is usually the case, I met with Véronique Drouhin who had an interesting tagline for the 2018 vintage, calling "The Tranquil Force. The idea behind the phrase is to capture the vintage's deceptively easy-going nature as there is real power and energy hiding beneath the veneer of baby fat." After tasting through a wide range of the Drouhin 2018s I can see why she is so high on the vintage as many of the wines are excellent. Also, my sense is that the restrained and elegant Drouhin house style is well-suited to riper vintages and it appears to be especially successful in 2018." â€“ Allen Meadows, Burghound

The Producer: Founded in Beaune in 1880, Maison Joseph Drouhin’s cellars have spread from the historical Cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France in Beaune (12th-18th centuries) to the Moulin de Vaudon, an 18th Century watermill in Chablis. Today, the fourth generation is at the helm leading the way in both France and Oregon.

This is a classic 'cuvée ronde', combining fruit from six different Premiers Crus to produce a stylish example of what Véronique Drouhin calls the 'cashmere of Burgundy'. Scented, balanced and ethereal, it's a transparent expression of Chambolle's range of terroirs, with sweet summer berry flavours and fine, velvety tannins. Accomplished stuff.Drinking Window 2023 - 2032 Tim Atkin - Decanter

Dried-strawberry and black-cherry aromas with hints of dried cherries and orange blossom. It’s full-bodied with round, integrated and fine tannins. Tight and reserved on the finish. Drink after 2023. James Suckling

More evident wood can be found on the spicy poached plum, cassis and violet-suffused nose. The sleek, supple and attractively detailed medium weight flavors exude a fine bead of minerality on the lingering finish that immediately firms up as it sits on the palate. This is already excellent and potentially outstanding. Sweet Spot – Outstanding – Allen Meadows - Burghound
