"Without a doubt, biodynamic viticulture enables this estate to harvest exceptional grapes and make equally exceptional wines." - Decanter
Domaine Huet, founded in 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston, today has thirty hectares of Chenin planted on three key vineyards: Clos du Bourg, Le Mont, and Le Haut Lieu. From these 3 single vineyards come 3 different styles, starting with “Sec” for the dry wines. This is followed by "Demi-Sec", literally meaning "half dry," with an average of about 17 grams per liter of residual sugar. The next level is “Moelleux" (literally meaning "full of marrow," and referring more to the textural quality than to the sweetness) which will have approximately 30 grams of residual sugar. The final elevated classification of "Première Trie" doesn’t automatically mean that these grapes have been harvested on the first passage as the name might suggest, but rather that they are selected on any one of the three separate visits to the vineyard when bunches affected either by botrytis or dried by wind and sun are selected, often grape by grape. The estate was one of the leaders of biodynamic cultivation in French vineyards, and the results have proven Huet is an undisputed benchmark of collectible Chenin Blanc.
We're pleased to offer these exceptional and limited library releases coming straight from the winery, all In-Stock.

2003 Huet Vouvray Le Clos du Bourg Moelleux 1ere Trie Ex-Domaine

Served from the 500 ml bottle, the apricot-golden colored 2003 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie offers a beautifully deep, intense, concentrated and at the same time precise, fresh and refined fruit aroma of fully ripe and cooked peaches along with refreshing lemon and spicy/mineral flavors on the nose. On the sweet and fruity, highly elegant, balanced and finesse-full palate, there is a gorgeous precision, freshness and piquancy that leads to a correspondingly precise, piquant and salty finish that is simply great and almost unrivaled. This 2003 is one of the greatest, because it's the finest and most balanced Moelleux of this tasting, and if I had to draw a comparison it would be to the 1959 and the 1945. Drink 2015-2070. –Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate

Intensly rich without being sweet, this wine is full of ripe flavors and a touch of honey. It's a wonderful combination of spices, candied fruits and opulence. The acidity rounds this wine out nicely. — Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast

From another early, low-acid vintage, the golden shining, botrytis-free 2003 Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Moelleux Première Trie shows a beautifully intense, extraordinary clear, refined and elegant bouquet of ripe fruits intertwined with mineral flavors –– fascinating! Sweet, intense and delicate on the palate, this highly elegant and lovely concentrated Chenin is of great purity, balance and finesse. Its length is impressive, its generous flow is extremely sensual and its overall intensity and accessible generosity are absolutely gorgeous. This 2003 is great today, but will probably even more fascinating in 50+ years. The balance and drinkability is superb. Highly recommended. Drink: 2015-2065. –Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
