If ever there was a more perfect example of Antinori’s Tignanello, the 2021 iteration, marking the 50th anniversary for this iconic Super-Tuscan, is simply superb. I personally don’t often think of wines in point scores, only because they are constantly evolving, but this wine has the quality of fruit and balance that will carry it for decades. This was one of the surprises of the year for me, and so incredibly modest in price. This wine has great minerality and texture, coupled with lovely black fruit, and despite its concentration it has no heaviness retaining a real charm. At a trade tasting with well over 100 wines from all over the world, this wine just jumped out of the glass and grabbed my attention. It had great depth, but it was elegant and not heavy. Nuanced and brimming with deep earthy notes, and just reminded me of walking through a damp forest as the sun sets. Cool and beautiful. -Daniel M. GVWM
