Charles Smith has done it again with an outstanding offering of 100% Grenache from the classic 2019 vintage in Walla Walla, Washington. Smith’s first winery, K Vintners, launched in 2001, and despite incredible growth and numerous other brands, the original K Vintners line consistently delivers exceptional quality. With a near-perfect score and a new ranking as #1 on James Suckling's Top 100 American Wines of 2022, this won’t last long..!
"What’s clear after tasting close to 600 wines is that 2019 is another beautiful vintage for Washington State" - Jeb Dunnuck
"It’s hard to think of a better U.S. wine for the money this year than our No. 1, The Boy 2019. The 100 percent grenache comes from House of Smith’s Powerline vineyard in the heart of the appellation of Walla Walla Valley, and its soils of cobblestones, gravel and dark sand are reminiscent of other similar great soils I have seen in the world, particularly parts of Pessac-Leognan in Bordeaux. In fact, just about any red variety grows wonderfully in Walla Walls alluvial soils even though most the area is planted to Rhone varieties." - James Suckling

The gorgeous nose of freshly ground pepper, red currant and red cherry immediately catches your attention. Medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins. There is so much pure and exhilarating red fruit and spice here. It always remains light and airy on the palate. So effortless. Precise austerity. An incredible example of what grenache is capable of in Washington. 100% whole cluster fermented in concrete vats. A joy to drink. Drink or hold. - James Suckling
A 100% Grenache that was not destemmed and was brought up in neutral oak, the 2019 Grenache The Boy sports a translucent ruby hue to go with straight-up brilliant aromatics of ripe cherry and wild strawberry fruits, white pepper, cured meats, and baking spices. Beautifully balanced, medium to full-bodied, and as elegant as they come, it brings plenty of classic Grenache fruit, has ripe tannins, and a great finish. Drink it any time over the coming decade or so. - Jeb Dunnuck
