“Working as well as you can in the vineyard and not intervening in the cellar is the ONLY way to make exceptional wine.”- Rene Mosse

When Agnes and Rene Mosse arrived in Anjou over 20 years ago, the area had a reputation for “headaches and stomach pains…wines that are heavily sulfured and chaptalized.” The region has had a hard time fixing its bad reputation. But Agnes and Rene set out to be a part of a new wave of winegrowers and winemakers that work on a much smaller scale, only 17 hectares, and focus on Organic (certified) and Biodynamic vineyard and winery practices.

But don’t let the idea of a more "natural" wine concern you, as Rene said â€œQuality is what matters. I don't care how your wine was made if it's undrinkable.” These are exciting and vibrant wines, whites, a Muscat/Cab Franc blend, and a lovely sparkler. Something new and intriguing for your cellar!

The wines of Agnès & René Mosse, from Anjou Noir, have become highly sought-after by lovers of natural wines. Domaine Mosse is an organic winery founded in the late 1990s by Agnès and René Mosse after his tenure in Burgundy. The domaine produces a wide range of bottlings under the Vin de France, Anjou and Savennières designations. Mosse Chenins tend to be more open and fleshier, without sacrificing complexity. - Wine Spectator

2021 Agnes et Rene Mosse Les Bonnes Blanches

$47.89 (750ml) In Stock- Buy Now

Les Bonnes Blanches is a sector of vines widely considered to be the top terroir in the area. It’s location is geologically ideal to the Layon river, and it’s one of the rare vineyards that can produce an excellent Coteaux-du-Layon every year. The Mosse intentionally harvest earlier to produce dry whites. The soils are composed of shallow decomposing schist and quartz on schist rock, so the roots of the vineyards' 40 year old vines can get exceptionally deep, providing an unparalleled amount of minerality in the wine.
