"The Moncuit family makes consistently outstanding Champagnes but doesn’t seem to get much attention, and that’s really a shame." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
For five generations the family-run Moncuit estate has been growing grapes for the production of wine in Champagne from Mesnil sur Oger and Oger, farmed without pesticides or herbicides. Pierre Amillet exclusively works with Grand Cru Chardonnay over nine hectares. Having taken over in 2000, he is the fourth generation of winegrowers in the Côte de Blancs since 1889. He presses and ferments each parcel separately, and stainless steel is used for debourbage and for reserve wines. After debourbage, the juice is gravity fed into barrique, and all the wines see full malolactic fermentation and rest on the lees in barrel for nine months. In Mesnil sur Oger, his key holdings are in Les Chetillons, since 2008, and in Oger, a single plot of the younger, north-facing site of Les Vozemeiux. For Les Chetillons and Les Vozemeiux, the bottles are aged under cork as they spend a longer period aging, while the other cuvées are aged under crown cap prior to disgorgement. Historically, he has used low levels of dosage; however, two years ago he made the decision to move to zero dosage added across the range.
And 2015 is an exceptional year that may eclipse the lauded 2008 vintage over time...
"I think it is quite a unique vintage because of the dryness we had and the very sunny weather; it’s almost an organic vintage. Ripeness was good and I’m very happy. I think this was a rare ‘chalky’ year." - Jancis Robinson

The 2015 Champagne Grand Cru Les Chetillons Extra Brut has more tension and focus despite the warmth that was brought by the 2015 vintage. Youthful and fresh, the nose is tense with energy of lime zest, chalk, and green apple that will take time to open. The palate is dry and focused, with more concentration of fresh citrus of lemon, fantastic, pure, chalky texture, and a firm backbone of acidity. There is a hint of phenolic texture on the finish and the structure to age for two to three decades. Drink 2025-2045. Disgorged March 2020, it has 2 grams per liter dosage. - Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck .com
The 2015 Blanc de Blancs Les Chétillons is a pretty, open-knit Champagne from this highly regarded site in Mesnil. Citrus peel orchard fruit, white pepper and chalk all meld together nicely. Soft, silky contours add to its considerable appeal. All this needs is more depth, persistence, and complexity. Overall, the 2015 is a pretty easy going wine from Chetillons. - Antonio Galloni
2015 Robert Moncuit Blanc de Blancs Les Vozemieux GC
The domaine currently has a 1.5 hectare parcel in Oger, Mesnil's neighboring village to the north. 66 ares of the 1.5 hectares are in the climat of "Les Vozemieux". (1 are is 1/100th of a hectare, so 66 ares is 0.66 hectare.)The vines in Les Vozemiux were planted in 1955.
2010 was the first vintage of Les Vozemieux. Pierre decided to vinify this climat separately because he wanted to see what difference, if any, there would be between his parcel of Chetillons in Mesnil and Les Vozemieux in Oger.
Robert Moncuit Extra Brut Les Grands Blancs GC NV
92 VM / 91 WA
Disgorged in May 2019 with three grams per liter dosage, Moncuit's NV Extra-Brut Grand Cru Les Grands Blancs is the latest rendition of the cuvée that formerly simply bore the name Blanc de Blancs. Derived from the 2015 and 2014 vintages, it's showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of ripe lemons, honeycomb and hints of the warm bread to come with a little more age on cork. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy but nicely defined, with an open core that reflects its constituent vintages, a delicate mousse and a sapid, penetrating finish. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
