This weekend is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape Winegrowers Union, and it got us looking at all the amazing wines from the Rhone that we have here in stock. And as they say, “they make new wine every year,” so we thought we’d offer a discount on a bunch of our Rhone wines from 2019 and before for your summertime drinking, or for your cellar! Limited to stock on hand.

Here are a few highlights:

2018 Vieille Julienne CdP Les Hauts-Lieux

$97.89 (750ml) In Stock - Buy Now

97 JD / 95 DE

#1 Jeb Dunnuck’s Top 100 Wines of 2020

Including slightly more Mourvèdre and from a cooler, higher elevation terroir, the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Hauts-Lieux has more cassis, game, peppery herbs, and olive notes, as well as the classic violets and black licorice nuances that always seem to be present in the wines from this estate. Possessing full-bodied richness, an ethereal, seamless texture, ultra-fine tannins, and nicely integrated acidity, it’s a more structured wine compared to the Les Trois Sources and will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and evolve for 15 years or more. It’s every bit as good as the Reserve cuvée in 2018. - Jeb Dunnuck

2017 Ferraton Hermitage Le Meal Rouge

$119.95 (750ml) In Stock - Buy Now

98+ JD / 97 DE / 96 WS / 95 VM / 95 WE

More bloody meat, black raspberries, wood smoke, spice, and truffle notes emerge from the 2017 Hermitage Le Méal, a massive, opulent effort that has loads of opulence and fruit, building tannins, a gorgeous mid-palate, and a monster finish. It's one of the finest wines I've tasted from this estate! It’s already approachable yet promises to evolve gracefully for 20-25 years or more. Jeb Dunnuck

From south-exposed vines in lieu-dit Le Meal, the fruit is all destemmed and fermented in concrete, then aged for up to 18 months in barrel, on average around 40% new. This wine is dark and brooding in style, with charcoal-laced blackberry fruits. It's full-bodied but not massive, with real energy and drive. It's highly spiced and overly oaky, but rapier-like acidity helps to keep things dynamic. It's almost unbearably powerful at this stage, but not stodgy, and it has a long, tapered finish. Drinking Window 2020 - 2036 Matt Walls - Decanter

2018 Saint Cosme Gigondas Hominis Fides

$99.00 (750ml) In Stock - Buy Now

97 WA / 97 JD / 97 WE / 96 VM / 95 WS / 94 DE

One of the wines of the vintage, 2018 Gigondas Hominis Fides comes from a single parcel of old vines planted in more limestone/sandy soils not far from the estate (it’s just across the street from the Le Claux lieu-dit). This dense purple/ruby hued beauty boasts a sensational bouquet of ripe black raspberries, mulled cherries, black licorice, loamy soil, and a kiss of camphor, as well as plenty of peppery herb-like nuances. With full-bodied richness, it hits the palate with a seamless, elegant texture, no hard edges, building tannins and one seriously good finish. It’s not a powerhouse like the 2007 or 2016, yet has incredible finesse as well as purity of fruit and length. It benefits from a quick decant and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face any time over the coming 15+ years. Jeb Dunnuck
