May 25th is "World Chardonnay Day", so check out all the different kinds of Chardonnay we have. From all over the world and up to 99 points!

It’s World Chardonnay Day

From Bourgogne to Napa to Mendoza to Australia

Up to 99 points for the World’s Favorite White Wine

It’s the most widely-planted white noble wine grape in the world. It grows on the hills of the Cote d’Or, the high elevation vineyards of the Uco Valley, in the Carneros between Napa and Sonoma, on the islands of Tasmania and New Zealand, and nearly everywhere in between. Sleek and steely, round and buttery, stoney and textured. Chardonnay reflects the soils, climate, weather, vineyard, cellar and time. It has so many personalities, and so much charm.

In celebration of World Chardonnay Day (5/25, there is a day for everything!) we thought we would highlight a few of our amazing Chardonnay wines for you to consider for the upcoming summer, or for your cellar for farther down the line. So many choices, but we think you will find something you really love!

A few prime examples of great Chardonnay:

2020 Latour-Giraud Meursault Genevrieres 1er Cru

$129.89 (750ml) In Stock- Buy Now

94-97 JM

Clean pure yellow. The bouquet is over and above the Charmes. Juniper and verbena, depth and poise, concentration without heaviness. Then a pure white fruit with appropriate flesh. Not just intensity on the palate but depth of flavour as well. It is true that they are beautifully placed with their large plot of Genevrières Dessus, but even so, chapeau! Oak is present but perfectly integrated. Given the summer, I never imagined we would be able to achieve this freshness, this detail!--Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

2020 Peter Michael Winery Chardonnay

Ma Belle Fille

$124.89 (750ml) In Stock- Buy Now

97 JD / 97 WA / 94-96 WI

The nose of the 2020 Chardonnay Ma Belle-Fille is layered with fresh and citrus tones, with lime blossom, white flowers, and lemon pith. The mouthfeel is stony and has more tension while still having a classic viscous feel.—Jeb Dunnuck

Matured for 12 months in about 40% new French oak, the 2020 Chardonnay Ma Belle Fille gains aromatic intensity as it spends time in the glass, segueing from matchstick, nutmeg and panna cotta to wafts of honey, apricot, lilac and lemon peel. Medium-bodied and ultra silky, it expands in the mouth from bright citrus to more savory, honeyed fruits. It offers generous, juicy acidity and a very long, ethereal finish. Still flaunting a touch of new-oak character, it will benefit from a couple years in bottle or some time in the decanter. 1,636 cases were made. - Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate

2018 Long-Depaquit Chablis Les Vaudesirs

$109.89 (750ml) In Stock- Buy Now

97 WE / 95 JM

Bright, tender lemon and fragrant summer blossom give a sense of delicacy to this wine's chalky nose. The chalky, concentrated and textured palate is also pervaded by lemon zestiness that makes the mouth water. Yet the wine also has generosity and lovely balance. Richness and freshness are anchored in the stony depth of the wine, making it a joy to drink. Over the years the chalkiness will become even more pronounced. Drink by 2040. Anne Krebiehl MW, Wine Enthusiast

A pale mid lemon colour, while the bouquet starts gently it soon develops significantly more fruit. Broad-shouldered and exceptionally young, with a core salinity alongside the white and yellow fruit. This is growing on me as the detail starts to emerge more. “Closer to the stones” commented one taster. DIAM 10 closure. Tasted: May 2022, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

2021 Kumeu River Chardonnay

Mate's Vineyard

$67.89 (750ml) In Stock- Buy Now

99 JS / 97 VM

#2 James Suckling's Top 100 New Zealand 2022

#13 James Suckling's Top 100 Wines of 2022

Lots of minerality with crushed stone, chalk, white grapefruit, peach stones, white apricots, wild herbs and lavender. Touch of cedar. Evolves to nutmeg and crushed almonds. Wow. It really builds on the palate, leading to a crescendo and intensity that blows your mind. Compact and phenolic, yet so agile and refined. Goes on for minutes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.- James Suckling

The 2021 Chardonnay Maté's Vineyard offers greater tension and sapidity compared with how the more relaxed 2020 did upon release. It w need time in bottle to shoke off the rawness of youth. It is focused, concentrated and precise. There's sophisticated use of ook, which intearates seamlessly within the package. I got a cold the day after this was first opened, and almost a week later, when my senses returned, it remained impeccable, focused and compact. Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous Media
