The Roberto Voerzio winery was founded in 1986 in La Morra, a village in the heart of the Langhe, an area always known for its vineyards, some of which were mentioned in the municipalities books since 1350. Since that time the name Roberto Voerzio has stood for some pretty high standards. His vineyards are organic (but not certified), high density plantings, extremely low yields. They use green harvest, bunch thinning and meticulous pruning to create riper fruit, more concentrated flavors and to maintain acidity. He farms 20 hectares in total in La Serra, Brunate, Cerequio, Sarmassa, Fossati and Rocche dell’Annuziata.

 

In the cellar, working with his son Davide, he favors short fermentation on the skins, and aging in both barrique and botti. The pursuit of perfection is what drives him to make legendary wine that are hard to find, but worth the search.

Lots of rose petal notes here with pure fruit like raspberries and fresh strawberries. Full and powerful with lots of tannins yet the core of fruit is fresh and beautiful. It’s not overly chewy or aggressive. It shows purity and focus. A fantastic wine. Drink after 2029.-James Suckling
