A Rising Star of Burgundy
Domaine de Collotte covers 17 hectares, mainly in Marsannay with small parcels in Fixin, Chambolle Musigny and Gevrey Chambertin. The Collotte family is related to Fougeray de Beauclair with whom most Burgundy enthusiasts are well familiar. The 2019s offer excellent value for the quality in the glass - don't miss them!
"It was at the 2006 Grand Jours de Bourgogne that I was looking for excellent Burgundies at equally excellent value. Marsannay came to mind as a good candidate, but aside from a couple of well-known producers, I was disappointed in the quality of many. That is until I came upon Philippe Collotte. A tall, quiet man, but with a lot of passion to make superb wines just waiting to be unleashed. Producing lower yields, more selection before and at harvest, de-stemmed fruit, and, for us, he bottles everything unfiltered. His Bourgogne parcel was planted in 1947 and there are 5 parcels of 50+ year old vines in his super-value Marsannay VV. Indeed all of the Marsannay single vineyard cuvées are old vines. Tillage is all done by plowing, no chemical weed-killers ever used, and the philosophy is that a lot of work in the vines promotes healthy grapes for excellent wine. Collotte's yields are well below the appellation's allowances. All fermentations are only done with indigenous yeasts.
Philippe's daughter, Isabelle, has completed viticulture school and has joined her father in the domaine. Her specialty is making the family's superb Marsannay blancs. The wines produced by the Collottes are some of the best kept secrets in our portfolio." - Importer

2019 Domaine Collotte Fixin Les Crais de Chene
The Marsannay Crais de Chene is from 40+ year old vines on clay-limestone soil. The vines face east to gather the sweet morning sun. Due to the old age of the vines, the grapes are very small and concentrated with flavor. This is always among the richest and most complex of Collotte's wines
2019 Domaine Collotte Gevrey Chambertin les Evocelles
The Domaine started producing Evocelles in 2017 From vines planted in 1955 located high up above the village on the combe in Les Evocelles. An elegant bouquet characterized by freshness and finesse. The Evocelles is a village level vineyard and produces relatively little wine. That being said, it has a lineup of excellent top producers including Bachelet, Dugat Py and Vougeraie to name a few.
2019 Domaine Collotte Marsannay Le Clos de Jeu
From 50-year-old vines above soft limestone soil. Layers of dark red fruit, flowers and spices caress the palate in this supple, radiant wine. This possesses lovely mid-palate presence and plenty of depth.
2019 Domaine Collotte Marsannay Cuvee Vieilles Vignes
The Marsannay Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is assembled from five different terroirs of the appellation: "Combereau", "Favières", " Grasses Têtes ", " Boivin "and "Récilles" on vines of about 50 years old. Completely destemmed, the wine is fermented and aged in tank.
