Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion - Luxe Adventure Traveler

Chateau Latour left the Bordeaux En Primeur system after the 2011 vintage and has subsequently held new wines back in its cellars to mature, only to be released when Frédéric Engerer and his team feel the wine is ready to drink. Following on the release of the "muscular" 99-point 2015 Grand Vin and "stunning" 95-point 2017 Les Forts de Latour earlier this month, we're pleased to offer the 2014 Grand Vin as well as other vintages in stock and available now.

The 2014 Latour captures the personality of the year in its linear, lithe construction. It's a decidedly understated Latour that is more about finesse than brawn. Bright red cherry/plum fruit, spice, mint and sweet tobacco open over time, but at this level, wines are more about a feel, an expression of place and a vintage. The 2014 Latour embodies all the best this cool, late-ripening growing season had to offer. I loved the 2014 when it was first shown, about five years ago, and I love it today. It is a super-classic Pauillac. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

So much violets, licorice, pencil, flowers and currants define this on the nose before it moves to fresh mushrooms. It’s full-bodied yet compacted with tension and a compressed center palate. Incredible, fine-grained tannins and energy. The length is truly great. Should be even more beautiful in 2024. Give it time. - James Suckling

The 2014 Latour is one of the very finest wines of a vintage that favored the northern Médoc. Mingling aromas of wild berries and cassis with hints of cigar wrapper, loamy soil, black truffles and classy new oak, it’s full-bodied, rich and concentrated, its broad attack segueing into a deep, tightly wound mid-palate that’s framed by powdery, chalky tannins and bright acids, concluding with a long, mouthwatering finish. This classically balanced, youthfully structured young wine looks set to enjoy prodigious longevity. It’s reminiscent of a modern-day version of a cooler vintage such as 1996, though of course these days maturity is more complete and selection even more rigorous than was the case two decades ago. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

2001 Latour

$795 (750ml) In Stock - Buy Now

97+ AG / 97 DE / 95 RP

The 2001 Latour is magnificent. A huge, structured wine, the 2001 Latour boasts notable depth to match its vertical, towering structure and pure power. At nearly fifteen years of age, the 2001 remains deep, virile and imposing. With air, the 2001 is a approachable now, but ideally it needs at least a few more years in bottle. This is a superb showing by any measure. Fr'd'ric Engerer adds that 2001 was the last vintage that was lightly filtered prior to bottling. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

1999 Latour Case of 12 x 750ml

$9420 per case (In Stock) - Buy Now

94 RP / 93 WS / 92 VM

Readers looking for a modern day version of Latour's magnificent 1962 or 1971 should check out the sensational 1999 Latour. It is a big, concentrated offering, exhibiting a dense ruby/purple color, and a classic nose of minerals, black currants, leather, and vanilla. The wine is long, ripe, and medium-bodied, with high levels of sweet tannin. This surprisingly full, concentrated 1999 should be drinkable in 5-6 years; it will last for three decades. - Robert Parker

1995 Latour
$1,995.00 (1.5L) In Stock - Buy Now
$3,999.00 (3.0L) ETA 7-14 days - Buy Now

96 RP / 94+ VM / 94 WS

A beauty, the opaque dense purple-colored 1995 exhibits jammy cassis, vanillin, and minerals in its fragrant but still youthful aromatics. Medium to full-bodied, with exceptional purity, superb concentration, and a long, intense, ripe, 40-second finish, this is a magnificent example of Latour. As the wine sat in the glass, scents of roasted espresso and toasty new oak emerged. This classic will require considerable cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2050. - RP

2016 Les Forts De Latour Ex-Chateau

$234.94 (750ML) In Stock - Buy Now

96 VM / 96 JS / 95 WA / 95 JD / 94 JA / 94 WS / 18 JR

The 2016 Les Forts de Latour is the clear highlight among these new releases from Latour. The first thing that is evident about the 2016 is the pedigree of the vintage. Undisputedly great. Readers will find a potent, dark Forts de Latour endowed with massive concentration and tons of depth. The 2016 won't be ready to drink anytime soon, but it holds tons of promise. Hints of gravel, sage, licorice and pencil shavings linger. The 2016 was impressive a few years ago. It is even better today. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2009 Les Forts De Latour Ex-Chateau

$279.99 (750ML) In Stock - Buy Now

96 VM / 95 RP / 95 JS / 94 WA / 94 DE / 93 WS

The 2009 Les Forts de Latour is engaging and quite complex on the nose with blackberry, bilberry, hints of brine and freshly rolled tobacco, all very well delineated and gaining vigor with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine but firm tannin that frame layers of black fruit laced with pencil lead and tobacco, very convincing on the finish that has one of the longest lengths of any Pauillac in this flight. Excellent. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
