A lifted, ethereal note of bitter almond suggests the beginnings of evolution. The palate, on the other hand, still seems closed but displays a streamlined concentrated core of flawless dryness and precise bundled freshness. This is taut, precise and sure to develop. The finish is lasting, refreshing and clean. Drink now through 2030. Anne Krebiehl MW â Wine Enthusiast
This is an excellent pinot gris with pine nut, sliced dried mango, citrus and bitter almond character. Smoky. Full-bodied, spicy and long. A beauty. Very dry for pinot gris. It will be released in 2017. James Suckling
Straw-green. Intriguing aromas of lemon, green apple, pear and smoke are lifted by notes of lavender and cinnamon. Supple yet quite bright in the mouth, showing good acid cut to the juicy flavors of ripe pear, baked apple and sweet spices. Finishes very dry and pure, with noteworthy persistence and an impression of high acidity. I found this to be extremely lemony ("at 2 g/l residual sugar and roughly 7 g/l total acidity, this is the driest Pinot Gris I have ever made,â admitted Pierre Trimbach), but as the estate holds onto its wines for at least a couple of years prior to releasing them, it's likely this will have rounded out considerably by the time you get a chance to taste it. A resolutely dry, food-friendly, very promising Alsace Pinot Gris. Ian DâAgata â Vinous Media
Well-knit flavors of apricot, yellow plum, lemon curd and paraffin are structured by a firm backbone of acidity in this finely balanced, medium-bodied white. Offers a savory, smoke-tinged finish. Drink now through 2024. 1,500 cases imported. â AN â Wine Spectator

Picked out ultra-selectively from all of their Pinot Gris vineyards, the Trimbach 2005 Pinot Gris Selection de Grains Nobles displays high-toned, botrytis-engendered aromas of honey, brown spices, peach preserves, and white truffle. Remarkably creamy and honeyed, with spice and truffle-infused peach preserves and tangerine liqueur, yet preserving (as have all of these best 2005s) a luscious core of fresh fruit, rich and viscous, let light on its feet and crystal clear. Butterscotch and toasted hazelnut, join the richly diverse choir here for a long, serene finish. Pierre Trimbach says the quality of material and course of fermentation here were so picture-perfect that he added only a very small dosage of sulfur to finish the wine. While there would be no need to defer the pleasure of this wineâs company â provided the winery agreed to release it! â it will no doubt improve for at least two decades. - David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate
