2019 Raul Perez Ultreia Saint Jacques
$18.89 / 750ml  (In Stock) Buy Now

94 WA / 17 JR
The nose of the 2019 Ultreia Saint Jacques is nothing short of spectacular. It shows the varietal character and the juicy and round style of the Valtuille vineyards. It's harmonious, clean and expressive. They are using more and more stems with long macerations, malolactic in tanks and aging in 30% oak vats (he purchased from Alión) and 70% of the wine in used 225-liter oak barrels for one year. There is only one master blend, which is put into oak vats and bottled by 25,000- to 30,000-bottle lots. In 2019 he produced 110,000 bottles of this wine.—Luiz Gutierrez, The Wine Advocate

95 JS / 94 DE / 93 WA / 92 WE

Beautifully perfumed with dried flowers, walnuts and violets to the dark berries on the nose. Full-bodied, yet very tight and refined with creamy, chewy tannins that are polished and poised. A lively, finely crafted red. Nice to drink now, but shows excellent potential for the future. - James Suckling

2016 Bodegas LAN Vina Lanciano Reserva

$27.89 / 750ml  (In Stock) Buy Now

95 DE / 92 JS / 91 WS

The 72ha Viña Lanciano vineyard sits in a privileged location, in a curve in the Ebro river. The vines dig deep to find nutrients on this pebble-strewn former riverbed. Grapes for this estate wine were harvested and sorted by hand, with maximum extraction ensured by fermentation in small, cone-shaped stainless steel tanks and long maceration.

Sarah Jane Evans MW: Restrained nose, showing French oak and rich blackberry fruit. A deep and complex palate, with juicy tannins and a long, complex finish. Pedro Ballesteros Torres MW: Full of dark fruit and spice notes, oak well integrated now, apparent but not dominant. Long, characterful finish with fine freshness. Pierre Mansour: Woody, dark fruit and cedar smoke notes, with round, soft, creamy oak. An intense wine that has fine-textured tannins and a long, oaky, fruity finish.— Decanter

2020 Bernabeleva Arroyo del Tortolas
$41.89 / 750ml (In Stock) Buy Now

94 WA
The 2020 Arroyo del Tórtolas is from a plot they consider wilder than the one for the single-vineyard bottlings. It's a north-facing slope, and the grapes ripen slowly. In 2020, this fermented with 80% full clusters and had over six weeks of maceration, then matured in three 500-liter barrels. The wine finished at a moderate 14% alcohol, with a pale color and a delicate nose, floral and spicy, with hints of rose hip and hibiscus. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and integrated acidity. 1,900 bottles were filled in May 2022.-Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

2021 Bernabeleva Arroyo del Tortolas
$46.89 / 750ml (In Stock) Buy Now

94+WA
There is more complete ripeness in the 2021 Arroyo del Tórtolas, which shows a darker hue than the 2020 I tasted next to it. It has more clout, full development of aromas and flavors and 15% alcohol, but it also has more acidity and a livelier palate, with a stony, chalky sensation, fine tannins and a long, dry and clean finish. This is still a little austere and backward. They also produced a little more, with four 500-liter barrels maturing until bottling in April 2023. 2,500 bottles produced.-- Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate

2017 Bernabeleva Garnacha de Vina
$47.99 / 750ml (In Stock) Buy Now

95 WA
The 2017 Garnacha de Viña Bonita has a pale color and a fragrant, floral nose, which is a constant in the 2017 single-vineyard bottlings. Here there is a notch more finesse and complexity, more filigree and detail. It's lighter than the 2018, perhaps with a little less depth, more approachable. It has focused flavors and a long, tasty finish. 1,100 bottles were filled in March 2020. Luis Gutiérrez - The Wine Advocate

2019 Descendientes de Jose Palacios Corullon

$43.89 / 750ml (In Stock) Buy Now

96 WA

Following the new classification of wines, the 2019 Villa de Corullón is a Vino de Villa (village), produced with grapes from 6.71 hectares divided into 200 small plots they own on slate-rich soils at 500 to 950 meters in altitude. It's 91% Mencía, 1% Alicante Bouschet and 8% white grapes from old vines (50 to 90 years old) that are organically and biodynamically farmed, and the wine will be certified in the coming years. The partly destemmed grapes fermented in oak vats with indigenous yeasts for 43 days and matured in barriques and foudres for 10 months. It has a "moderate" 13.5% alcohol, the lower part of the range, as they aim at 13.5% to 14% alcohol in the finished wines. This is a great blending exercise, as the wines are blended mostly before putting it in barrel. It's a subtle and elegant Corullón, with great balance and freshness; Ricardo talked about some tannins that are very fine. It's a fluid vintage for this bottling, a little herbal, versatile and complex. It seems to have more character than the Moncerbal than it has had in other years. This can be one of the lightest and most elegant vintages of Corullón, with a different texture from the rest of the 2019s. There were 20,344 bottles and some other formats produced. Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate

2009 Maurodos San Roman

$49.89 / 750ml  (In Stock) Buy Now

96 WA

The 2009 San Roman comes from 45-year-old bush vines or older in San Roman, Morales de Toro, Arjujillo, Villaester and El Pego between 720 and 760 meters and sees 24 months in new and used French (70%) and American (30%) oak. It offers a very seductive bouquet with luscious red berry fruit" raspberry, wild strawberry infused with crushed violets that open with aeration. The palate is full-bodied and very well-balanced, ripe succulent tannins, plush blueberry and black cherries forming the core followed by a silky, ripe, sensual, velvety smooth finish. Modern in style, but extremely well-crafted, this is a sensational, delicious Toro red. Drink now-2018

2020 Raul Perez La Vizcaina El Rapolao
$49.89 / 750ml  (In Stock) Buy Now

96 WA

There is more freshness in the 2020 La Vizcaína El Rapolao, where I even found notes of eucalyptus. It's medium-bodied and has fine tannins, very tasty and balanced. There are two new plots in 2020, so they produced some 7,500 bottles. He wants to reach 20,000 bottles here, and there will be a white Rapolao from a plot that he planted with Godello.--Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate
