Latour-Giraudâ€™s .34 hectare parcel in Pulignyâ€™s Les Champ-Canet lies at the northern border alongside Meursaultâ€™s Les PerriÃ¨res vineyard. It is literally right across the narrow dirt road. The soils of the two are quite similar - rocky, shallow in depth, and with little organic material. However, the vineyard has near perfect exposure to the sun, allowing these Chardonnay grapes to gain weight and texture as they ripen on its gentle slope. The vines in this difficult soil run deep, and ultimately give the wines their floral, elegant, and mineral-inflected character, with hints of almond and a sophisticated, lengthy finish.

2020 White Burgundy will be the vintage that everyone never bought enough of. It was a very small vintage with such limited production for world demand. Moreover, the wines have such incredible vibrancy and freshness. They are true classics with translucent terroirs that will enjoy excellent longevity.

Tasting note: A vague whiff of the exotic is present on the blend of both white and yellow peach, floral and spicy aromas where a hint of phenolic character lurks in the background. Here too the texture of the medium-bodied flavors is super-sleek, refined and intense while the sappy and youthfully austere finish exhibits excellent length. This isn't quite as mineral-driven as the PerriÃ¨res or as delicate as the BouchÃ¨res but it's quite classy all the same. Sweet spot. Outstanding. --Allen Meadows, Burghound

Picked early with the BouchÃ¨res. If you wait you gain sugar and lose acid very quickly in this vineyard. Little stones keep the heat. Full lemon yellow. The bouquet is softer and riper, possibly more lactic. This is pretty punchy in the middle of the palate, but has retained its vivacity. Two six ouvrÃ©e plots top and bottom. Mid yellow, the bouquet is a little softer and the oak has a vanilla touch rather than toasty. Starts reasonably quietly but kicks on with real force behind, and then finishes on the lime-citrus acidity of the vintage, suggesting a lightly salted Roseâ€™s lime juice. Clean pure yellow. The bouquet is over and above the Charmes. Juniper and verbena, depth and poise, concentration without heaviness. Then a pure white fruit with appropriate flesh. Not just intensity on the palate but depth of flavour as well. It is true that they are beautifully placed with their large plot of GenevriÃ¨res Dessus, but even so, chapeau! From the upper part of Les Gorges de Narvaux. Mid lemon colour, a little biscuit on the nose, wood reduction, again it is hyper-concentrated, with dense ripe lemon fruit, some acidity.
