"I saw some of the incredibly old vines that produce the red 2016 Antídoto, which sees a short maceration that in a cool year resulted in a lively, fresh and spicy red with very fine tannins and great balance. This is a great entry-level red, in line with the change they started in 2014. Here, they pressed the wine before it finished fermenting, and the end of the fermentation was like a white, with no skins-as with Le Rosé. It matured in 100% new 600-liter oak barrels, and that is also noticeable in the integration of the oak aromas and flavors. This is clearly the best Antídoto so far." - Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

 "The vineyards for this wine are located in Soria which is in the far Eastern portion of Ribera del Duero. This area is not the "norm" for most wines from Ribera. The vineyards in this area tend to be very old and "ungrafted." Because it is further upstream in Ribera del Duero, Soria is at a slightly higher altitude. The different plots used for this wine have varying orientations. The soils is composed of a mixture of limestone, decomposed granite and clay. A majority of the blend is comprised of grapes grown on the granite and clay sites with some limestone used to create structure and depth. The 2016 vintage has given way to an Anti´doto with a fair alcohol level (13º), a sweet acidity and polished finished tannins." - Winery
