The 2021 Deyrem Valentin is a potent, earthy Margaux. It offers very good density, with savory notes of worn-in leather, spice, tobacco, grilled herbs and scorched earth. This is not exactly an elegant expression of Margaux, but there is good depth, and that makes me optimistic. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
The 2021 Deyrem Valentin should be considered a success for the vintage. It has a loamy bouquet that complements the black fruit and hints of dark chocolate—not powerful yet nicely defined, almost Saint-Julien like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with black plummy fruit and (again) a touch of dark chocolate. There is a patina of oak to be assimilated toward the fresh finish, so give this Margaux another couple of years in bottle. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
Family owned estate located next to Labégorce on gravel-clay soils. Deep rich ruby in colour, this has high levels of dark fruit, with precision and purity, deleafed on both sides in September, very careful vineyard work to allow aeration and to be able to wait until October for the harvest. Slightly chewy tannins on the finis are a good sign for its ability to develop further over the net few years and give a good decades-worth of enjoyable drinking. This is one to recommend, 40% new oak for ageing. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independant
