(Laurent's wine from the upper section of the vineyard is from vines planted in 1959; he describes his wine from the bottom of the cru as "from very old vines"): Bright ruby-red. Vibrant scents of crushed tart cherry, raspberry, flowers and spices. Wonderfully fine-grained and seamless in spite of its crushed-rock pungency, this beauty offers an uncommon balance of thickness and energy. Awfully hedonistic and easy to taste for a youthfully tight wine with outstanding inner-mouth floral lift. The substantial tannins arrive late, allowing the wine's almost medicinal berry and red licorice flavor to expand and build on the aftertaste. Stephen Tanzer – Vinous Media
