Peach is edged with a note of tangerine on the subtle nose. The citrus lift continues on the generous palate where notions of candied orange peel come in. Zestiness tingles aromatically and shimmers with notions of Mandarin orange and tarter tangerine. All these flavors seem to emanate from an absolutely streamlined vein of concentrated, ripe citrus freshness. This is what lends drive and backbone, energy and vividness. Drink 2025–2045. The 2018 Ried Kellerberg Riesling Smaragd is surprisingly coolish, flinty and herbal on the focused and elegant nose. Lush and round on the palate, this is an intense, lush and persistently salty Riesling with great complexity, grip and tension on the finish.
