Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Puligny Montrachet 1Er Cru les Perrieres has a fulsome bouquet with plenty of citrus fruit, fresh pear, granite and smoke scents, nicely defined and gaining more delineation as it blossoms in the glass. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry. It is terse, strict and linear but then again, that is why you come to Puligny. Delivering some lovely marine/oyster shell notes towards the finish, this is a superb wine that should age with style. Tasted May 2016. Neal Martin – The Wine Advocate
Tasting note: Here the nose is vaguely reminiscent of a fine Chablis with its smoky notes of flint and iodine on the ripe and very fresh nose of apple, pear and acacia blossom. There is really lovely delineation and plenty of punch present on the middle weight flavors that conclude in a restrained, focused, linear and notably dry finish. This too should amply reward mid-term cellaring. Sweet Spot – Outstanding – Allen Meadows – Burghound
