The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes includes around 20% whole bunch fruit this year and was matured in two barrels (one and two years old). It has a ripe exotic bouquet with kirsch, orange zest and soy aromas, perhaps just a little too heady at the moment? The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red berry fruit laced with white pepper and orange rind. It gains more substance towards the finish, gently fanning out and its sappiness leaves you wanting more.
(from vines averaging 60 years of age; vinified with 25% whole clusters): Bright full red. Deep aromas of strawberry and raspberry accented by herbs and pungent graphite minerality. Very ripe and thick but with lovely inner-mouth saline character and sappiness to its crushed red cherry, stone and mocha flavors. This densely packed, very pure wine really piques the salivary glands on the long, spicy, ripely tannic aftertaste. Stephen Tanzer – Vinous Media
Note: from a small .17 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines near Bonnes Mares
Tasting note: A pretty and airy nose of essence of red currant, lavender and violet precedes bigger, richer and much more complex middle weight flavors that are shaped by notably firmer tannins and much better length. This is simply a more complete wine. Allen Meadows - Burghound
