A rich and powerful Chassagne-Montrachet with serious concentration and creaminess, but thanks to the acidity and the fine tannins this remains poised through the long and very sensual finish. Drink or hold.—James Suckling

Always a highlight in the Drouhin portfolio, the 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche is showing brilliantly in bottle. Unwinding in the glass with notes of crisp Anjou pear, citrus zest, blanched almonds, pastry cream and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with racy acids and a long, chalky finish. This is one of the most intense, tightly wound renditions of this cuvée in recent years. –William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

In barrel, unracked, rather backward, with primary fermentation aromas still in place and showing the oak a touch, but none of that matters: This is massive in its Morgeot style, heady, but all in place, a terroir, which can take these conditions, indeed revels in them. There is a beautiful structure behind this wine, shrouded in white fruit. This is going to be great. Tasted: December 2020—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru (Marquis de Laguiche), which went through complete malo, has an almost feisty bouquet of lemongrass-tinged tropical fruit that sports just a tiny reduction. The palate is very well balanced, and a striking line of acidity imparts great tension. Quite complex on the finish, this offers appealing ginger and apricot notes on the aftertaste, plus the sapidity to encourage you back for another sip. Excellent.—Neal Martin, Vinous Media

Note: from Le Grand Clos and Vignes Blanches
Tasting note: Notes of petrol and rosemary oil add breadth to the ripe and softly exotic white peach scents. There is good verve to the relatively refined medium-bodied flavors that flash terrific persistence on the balanced finale. This will need to develop better depth to achieve the upper end of my projected range, but it appears to have the potential to do just that. Outstanding. –Allen Meadows, Burghound
