Medium to full body with a creamy, caressing tannin texture. Ripe and plush, yet fresh, with plums, blueberries, sandalwood, bark and praline. Creamy and lengthy. -James Suckling.
Perfumed nuances on the nose and palate, the floral touches blackcurrants juicy yet also savoury with mineral notes of graphite, pencil lead, slate and salt all giving the angles. Tannis are fine and satin like and this has excellent expansion in the mouth in terms of texture and aeration, just the fruit is still a bit tight and linear with the liquorice spice giving it a constricted feel. Good potential here though. -Georgina Hindle, Decanter.
Based on 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc that's still resting in 65% new barrels, the 2021 Château La Clemence has an up-front, youthful, impressive style as well as medium-bodied aromas and flavors of blue fruits, chocolate, and spice. I like its mid-palate density, it has a round, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It has outstanding potential and is worth checking out. -Jeb Dunnuck.
The 2021 La Clémence offers up aromas of cherries, berries and plums mingled with sweet soil tones and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and fleshy, with a rich core of fruit and ripe but abundant tannins, it's produced by Christian Dauriac, proprietor of Saint-Emilion's Destieux. -William Kelley, The Wine Advocate.
