A unique white, like old Sauternes from the 1920s, showing grape skin, orange peel, apricots and pie crust on the nose and palate. Tarte tatin. It's full-bodied and very sweet but gives a dry impression from the tannins at the end. A masterpiece with a mind-bending finish. OMG. Speechless. 230 grams residual sugar. Drink or hold. - James Suckling

Tasted out of barrel, the 2022 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a different beast. Orange blossom, honeyed tangerine, honeycomb, and spice are just some of its nuances, and this beast of a Sauternes has a massive, opulent mouthfeel, bright acidity, and a clean, focused, incredibly majestic style. - Jeb Dunnuck

Ripe, very ripe, and over ripe pineapples, mangos, candied oranges, apricot, flowers, honey, and marmalade create the intoxicating perfume. Perfectly perched between its decadently, sweet side, and its raciness on the other side, this is sublime. The roasted passion fruits, mangos, apricots, pineapple, roasted cashews, and saffron on the palate are all slathered with honey. This has the potential to be a future legendary sweet wine. If this is your thing, grab it as only 1,200 cases were produced. It is going to be stunning on release. But if you prefer your sweet wines with age, this will evolve for 3 or more decades. The wine blends 95% Semillon with 5% Sauvignon Blanc. Drink from 2025-2055. 97-99 Pts.-Jeff Leve, Wine Cellar Insider

The 2022 Crème de Tête is what Sauternes used to be like before the wines started to become less rich. In that sense, proprietor Silvio Denz's Crème de Tete artfully marries tradition with a modern-day interpretation of what Sauternes should be. The resulting wine is quite simply off the charts. Apricot jam, orange peel, ginger, passion fruit and sweet floral overtones build in the glass, leading to an eternal, beautifully articulated finish. Sadly, production is just 3,000 bottles. Superb. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

The 2022 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a blend of 94% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc, and 1% Muscadelle, with 145 g/L residual sugar. Medium straw in color, it charges out of the gate with gregarious notes of mango pudding, juicy pineapple, and honeycomb, followed by hints of candied ginger and orange blossoms. The palate is full, rich, and decadently spicy, with a lively backbone to balance and epic length.--LPB, The Wine Independent

Produced at very low yields, the 2022 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a real success. Evoking a deep, complex bouquet of orange blossom, spring flowers, saffron, spices and quince, it's dense and deep with a full-bodied, layered core of fruit and a compact palate perfectly balanced thanks to racy, bright acids that conclude in an endless, polished finish. Massive, demonstrative and well-crafted, this is a concentrated Sauternes that should age with aplomb.-Yohan Castaing, The Wine Advocate

Golden colour but still a little opaque. Complex nose with honeyed, roasted, citrus notes, the botrytis clearly evident. Palate rich and thick, a real elixir but you almost need a knife and fork. Honeyed notes again with a slight bitter edge. Could do with a point of freshness.-James Lawther MW, JancisRobinson
