A lean, taut style, with fine concentration to the apple, white peach, lemon zest and baking spice flavors. There is energy and a tactile sensation as this white reaches a crescendo on the long, hazelnut- and mineral-tinged aftertaste. BS – Wine Spectator
Firm reduction renders the nose impossible to assess today. More interesting are the racy, tight, intense and relatively powerful medium weight flavors that possess first-rate mid-palate concentration thanks to the copious level of dry extract that also buffers the firm core of ripe acidity shaping the admirably long and well-balanced finale. Note that at least some patience will be required. Allen Meadows - Burghound
The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes is showing very well indeed from bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of Anjou pear, toasted nut and white flowers, framed by some classy new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, broad-shouldered and textural, with succulent acids, excellent depth at the core and a muscular, fleshy profile. This is shaping up to rank as one of Leflaive's best 2016s. William Kelley – The Wine Advocate
Very old vines that struggle. They keep thinking of pulling them out but the quality of the small berries is too good, even if the yield is ‘awful’.
Light, floral, flirtatious nose. Racy and leaner than Les Folatières. Really quite delicate despite the concentration. Savoury on the palate. Needs time! Great finesse and persistence. Jancis Robinson
