Crystalline black cherry fruit on the nose with lively red apples, plums and cinnamon overtones framed by wild herbs and blood orange nuances. Very precise and focused palate with robust tannins. -Decanter World Wine Awards

Shimmering ruby colour with a garnet sheen. Appealing nose with notes of wild raspberry and blackberry, some coriander seed in the background. Bold, tightly-knit tannin on the palate, embedded in a mellow texture. Earthy, salty notes on the finish.-Falstaff

Here's a back vintage from an organic and biodynamic estate that still shows plenty of dark primary fruit. The Podere Forte 2015 Orcia Petrucci Anfiteatro is all Sangiovese with dark plum, black cherry, earthy notes and nice spice. This is a mid-weight red with silky tannins, and it's drinking beautifully right now. This 2.4-hectare site has more schist in the topsoil.- Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate
